Would Snape already be consuming an antidote in case Voldemort tried to dose him with Veritus potion?

Amortentia has to be more dangerous than Veritaserum imo.

You can fight the effects of Veritaserum, especially if you’re good at occlumancy (like Snape). That’s why veritaserum is not used more often in the wizarding world.

Aside from access to certain ingredients, what would prevent a muggle from brewing magical potions?

Good question…with the exception of Squibs who are exposed to the Wizarding World, I would hazard a guess that certain ingredients may fall under the International Statute of Secrecy.
@coleblack7847 ай бұрын
I may be mistaken, but I think even if a muggle had all the ingredients and the proper instructions, they couldn't make a potion. I think a witch or wizard's magic is what solidifies the concept of the potion into being more than the sum of it's parts. There are many potion ingredients with magical or nonmagical origins, there has to be at least one potion out there that could be made with ingredients completely available to muggles. With that in mind, I'd think that at least one muggle would have made such a potion.

Not a potion, but a bezoar can be used to cure most if not all poisonings.

One of the most annoying things I saw in the Half-Blood Prince MOVIE, was when Slughorn had his class make a Draught of Living Death, and said that Harry's was so perfect, that "one drop would kill us all" - the Draught of Living Death is a SLEEPING potion that is so powerful, it makes one SEEM like they are dead, but in reality, they are ONLY asleep! Slughorn was probably joking, and there is also the possibility that an improperly made potion can harm the drinker, but this annoys me because the way that Slughorn said it, it is not clear that he was joking. Anyone less familiar with the Wizarding World can easily come away believing this potion is intentionally fatal to the drinker.

In the book, it's also mentioned that it's use is highly regulated by the ministry as even a slight overdose can put the user in a sleep that they can't wake up from

What were the potions that Snape mocked Harry with during his first potions lesson? He boasts what they do, but I don't think we ever find learn about them again, or what the potions really are called.

There's always an element of balance with anything so yes I'm sure there's something out there to do the opposite
@JamesDavy20097 ай бұрын
For example: antidotes not correctly brewed are likely to be poisonous. Like Veritaserum, antidotes are strictly regulated. There's also the overindulgence of Felix Felicis - also poisonous.

Real quesrion here is. Why didn't Snape fed Lily Amortentia? I mean. I ask not becase i believe Snape to be keen to do this, but more like in a common sense way. All he had to do was to Obliviate James, feed Lily the said potion and give Harry to Lord Voldemort. Oh well 🤔
@sterlingdennett7 ай бұрын
Harry was still Lily's child. Snape still cared for Lily, and so he could not do that to her child. IF Snape had less morality than he actually did, he COULD have obliviated/killed James, modified Lily's memory, so that she believed she was in love with Snape all along, leave the country to escape Voldemort, and raised Harry like his own. I also suspect that while a child conceived while one/both parent(s) is under the effects of a love potion would end up unable to love, the same is NOT true of a child conceived while one/both parent(s) have had their memories modified. So Snape could have more kids with Lily.
@Pokemon-Kid1127 ай бұрын
@sterlingdennett that's how Voldemort was conceived. Also, due to that, voldemort is incapable of love. So yes, being conceived under the effects of a love potion means you'll be incapable of love
@sterlingdennett7 ай бұрын
@@Pokemon-Kid112 My point was, that if you had a child with someone whose memories you modified, the child may still be able to love. It was only clearly stated that a child conceived under a love potion would be unable to love.
