Anil Kumble and Ravi Ashwin sitting and talking about 600 wickets is a visual that brought a joyous smile to my face! Two incredible servants of the game. Two stalwarts who made the best of their abilities and I have the greatest respect for.

@@Fe-ironmanA servant is one who serves, a deeper calling than being a master although you can be both. As both Ashwin and Kumble were. Mahatma Gandhi: "To serve is to find oneself." Albert Schweitzer: "To serve is to be truly free."

@@SunilPokhrel-wo9ew that's not the reason..the reason for kohli is that all his patterns and play sytle has been analyzed by all top bowlers and team and analyst and now they have found flaws and ways to try to restrict him...same happened with sachin tendulkar as well but sachin was different breed who used to take it on ego and overcome his weakness but in case of kohli he hasn't been able to overcome his 2 main weakness and some others too which he had since early days but now everybody knows about it

My favourite player - Ravichandran Ashwin. Previous the Sydney test where he made a draw with Hanuma Vihari, my favourite was Virat. After that I got a bit more in seeing cricket, the way he reinvented himself as a pinch hitter for Rajasthan in IPL. Then comes his wit and his respect grew even more he didn't post the tweet Govt. of India which many like Sachin, Rohit, Virat did. He even pointed out the ANI news for spreading fake news of rift between him and Virat. For me he not only is a great cricketer but a person of integrity, courage and determination.

How many players facing the last ball in a T20 match (India-Pakistan, MCG 2022) requiring two runs to win can leave a delivery alone without doing anything which was later called a wide? This speaks volumes of Ashwin's cricketing sense.

Good to listen to Harsha's honest comments. Nevertheless, all the praises from different quarters received sounds hollow inasmuch the fact that a senior player of Ash's calibre has not been given the A+ grade and package by the BCCI. A stark discrimination .meted out to this genius. It appears to be a backhanded compliments. I wish that his resilience and mental power both on the field and off the field should be made a text book case for the school children. His journey is beyond cricket and has proved to all of us the purpose of life, the ikigai

A stat that most pundits ignore - Second Highest number of Man of the Series awards. In 42 series, he has got 10. I can argue that in the last West Indies Series as well, he should have been MOS. If you look at the ratio of MOS to the Number of series he is THE BEST! At 25% no one is even close. Muralitharan is close to 12.5%. And yet pundits have a difficult time accepting him as a great. He is the MVP of India cricket. Period. Even Sachin has only 5 MoS awards in Tests. This is incredible.

A great point made by Harsha at end. But I just can't help but think about what could have happened if Ashwin was provided with more opportunities overseas. We always see people talk about Ashwin not getting 5-fers overseas but the fact is, he's a much improved bowler than his initial days. He was pretty good in the ENG&AUS series (2018) and was largely held back due to his injuries. He had some 4-fers I reckon. AUS series in 2020 was particularly great and he was one of the top wicket takers in the series. While I get frustrated that Jadeja replaces him for all the OS tours, the reason to choose Jadeja is still legit cuz of 4 pacer thing and batting in the top order not being up to the mark and Jadeja does add good, consistent performance for the team. How I wish, we can see more of Ash in OS and deliver more better performances..

With batting dominated teams all rounders don't get spots in middle orders or top orders usually. While in a weak batting orders all rounders get more opportunities at the top. Hence, there is chance you could get a true all-rounder. While others are considered batting or bowling all rounders. Even if they get opportunities like James Faulkner, a bad patch could mean demotions.
