Some credit needs to go to SRH for the template they’ve created last year. We have seen teams be aggressive in powerplays but SRH took it to another level by treating whole innings as powerplay and every player plays selfless. It may not always pay off but a benchmark has been set.

I think this template was set in 2016 by RCB, but it is very specific to pitches and bowling, only 3-4 stadiums can get these runs; chinnaswamy, wankhede, hyderabad etc. this template will not work on a balanced pitch, which is usually used in icc events. There will be swing, seam or spin too on pitches

I am so happy that the T20 team has moved on from the likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant. No disrespect to them, but their game is does not feel to be suited for the T20 style. We should give these players a long rope, up until the next T20WC in India. Lets not drop Sanju Samson based on this series alone. Remember he has had breathtaking hundreds before this series. With Bumrah coming in, the team feels complete. We might drop a game here and there, but that is okay, this is how we should play T20. We should not be over critical of them, when that happens and call for their axing.

Totally agree since 2007 to 2022 we never give chances to power hitter batsman and that's reason we didn't won a single trophy. Now that shit changes, and when bumrah into this side,then this team will be fully confident and beast.

@@vigneshram1293 Shivum dube smash spinners longer distances than any other batters because of his longer hands, which not mean always he performs great against spinners. All of so called indian batters failed in big turning pitches, he also not exception, i seen Shivum Dube failed against Srilanka, but all others also failed against spinners in that match.

I’m curious as to how Ind will go about their combinations. Jaiswal, Bumrah, Kuldeep are all players who were in the squad in the T20I WC and I wonder how they fit back in. Only reason Jaiswal hasn’t been playing T20I’s is due to the volume of test cricket he was playing but now I can’t see them replacing Abhishek or Samson, unless they have poor IPL. If Ind stick to the strategy of batting till 8 and playing three spinners, then Arshdeep would sit out once Bumrah is back. One of Bishnoi or Kuldeep would play along with Varun and Axar. Then you would have Nitish/Dube and Hardik filling out the seamer roles. The other option is to play a Sundar in place of Nitish/Dube and play Arshdeep. But Sundar is a misfit as a lower order batsman in T20I. So it’s an interesting conundrum.

So true. You have the slots of 9, 10 and 11 to fill. Because you have Axar and the batters till 8. The options are Varun, Bishnoi, Kuldeep, Bumrah, Arshdeep and Rana. With this combination India cannot play two leg-spinners and two proper fast bowlers together. Varun and Bumrah should be common. Last place would be according to the situation where most likely Arshdeep/Kuldeep would slot in.

@ exactly. Leaves the seam bowling a bit dicey though, relying on Hardik, Dube/Nitish to fill in the overs if they opt to continue with 3 spinners.

@@nikunjdixit3225 yeah but I mean they have done this exact thing these 5 matches and before this too. Hardik and Nitish/Dube have filled the 4-5 overs of pace aside from Arshdeep's 4 overs. There have been consistently 11-12 overs of spin in every match.

This was a brilliant display from Indian bowlers and batters! I think Sanju and Surya needs to improve their batting. In the 4th game impactsub was questioned by Buttler(after the game), but in the fifth Dube took two wickets and that was the answer for Rana as a sub. Overall England was clueless.

This Indian T20 side has almost all bases covered with some explosive batting at the top and in the middle order, penetrative pace and spin bowling (once Bumrah comes back it will be even more formidable) and a brilliantly athletic side in the field. And i say "almost" simply because i think the one area that there is scope for improvement is the power hitting capabilities of batters coming in at 7and 8 in the order. Pandya has the ability to clear the boundaries so hes fine but with axar at 8, I think India struggles slightly compared to some of the other sides. If they can somehow find a way to include Nitish Reddy into the side, we will have a complete side, but ofcourse the downside is the impact that change could have on the bowling.

It will take some time but I can see Abhishek evolve into a test batter too. He is not a slogger, a very clean hitter of the ball and adaptable. Maybe in 2-3 years time but he has potential! Could be a David Warner type of evolution

As much as I love him I also realized that dropping Axar will able us to play both Rinku & Tilak in the 11 which in a way also paves way for the explosive opening pair of Jaiswal -Abhishek and in the bowling too it paves for the deadly combo of Varun-Kuldeep & Arshdeep -Bumrah. Otherwise Axar usually bats at 8 not allowing this combo. Or if Axar bats at 7 that again means either Rinku or Tilak has to be dropped to accommodate a keeper.. but if u want to play Axar, Rinku & Tilak that means a keeper ( most likely Sanju) has to open which means we will miss out on a deadly opening combo of Jaiswal -Abhishek. So in all ways the exclusion of Axar only makes the 11 stronger

I guess that this batting till number 8 is to justify the highly aggressive approach by the top order . So even if you happen to lose a few wickets, you will still have solid batting. However the core bowlers need to be really good and solid . So this kind of stratergy will definitely work with bumrah.

This team looks almost perfect but my question is who will miss out when Jaiswal & Bumrah come in. After Abhishek 's perfromance in the last few months he should definitely open with Jaiswal as both can score heavily in the pp. Sanju might move to no 3 a position he is familiar with.. but then who of Tilak/Rinku must be dropped.. both r crucial middle order batters we need a finisher like Rinku on days Hardik may not fire also this 8 batter theory doesn't allow us to play a drem bowling combination of Varun-Kuldeep & Bumrah -Arshdeep perhaps the best in T20 cricket at the moment.

One critical piece in the puzzle for India for T20s is not to try to make these people all-format players. Once you attempt to make a pure T20 batter or a bowler into an ODI or a test player, the player tries to adapt and lose his T20 edge in that process. He would constantly have to toggle between techniques and mindsets. KL Rahul who was a classical test batter is a great example of this. We've enough talent pool to have specialist players in each format. Let that be the norm. Helps with workload management and opens up the possibility of having a T20, ODI and Test matches at various locations simultaneously filing up the calendars for us fans.

India's bowling line up in ODI is weak because of batters not ready to bowl. at the time of dhoni india has many bowling options like raina, yuvraj, jadeja. but now a days first 4 batters are not ready to ball. even at the time of sachin also sachin, ganguly, sehwag would ball. but today rohit, jaiswal, kohli, shreyas, KL rahul, gill not ball. that is a disadvantage of team india. at the end junior twenty 20 team out performing senior ODI team in many miles due to not ready to ball, fielding not good due to aged, form out batting line up is liability to ODI team.

Rest is history.

You should take his stats at the opening position. He just had a bad series, that's it. He has a very good average against short balls in the IPL. He also was the highest scorer in T20IS for India in 2024. Do you want to drop him based on one series? And who are you bringing back as wicket keeper ? Sanju is far ahead of any wicket keepers in T20IS at the moment. if he doesn't perform in next 2 series then there is a big concern. Untill then this shouldn't be a point of discussion.

@nate0116 i think captain should be sanju, he has captained rr well, but i think sky is a part of wc winning 11 so he is captain, hardik cant captain because he has ego issues, axar is too inexperienced to captain, pant is inconsistent in this format, so sky is the only one from the winning 11 who is left for captain, i think bumrah can also captain but that guy already does a lot so maybe captaincy should be given to sanju, ( in my personal preference and opinion- rajat patidar should come in for sky and captain as well, he is in the form of his life, and is 32, has only 3-4 years ok peak left)
