He isn't beyond figuring out how to use the ladder I assure you. I had a wolf dog that would turn on the water hose with her mouth when she got thirsty. She never figured out (or cared to figure out) how to cut it off though. The yard would get flooded and water bill would be high because of it sometimes but her presence was worth every bit of trouble she ever caused. One of the sweetest animals I've ever know.

I remember an incident from about 6 years ago when my pups actually knocked over the ladder by accident when i was already on the roof. Thankfully the wife was home and heard the bang and came running out because I would have hated having to climb down by holding the edge of the roof and lowering myself to the point of minimal injury as opposed to having the ladder giving me no injury.
