Crazy to think that now Ali is now world number 1 and Khalifa is an investment banker. Wonder how far Khalifa could have gone in the squash world. He was already top 50 when he was only 19. I guess everyone has a different path. Ali talks about how playing pro squash after university helped him get around being drafted into the Egyptian military, and if he wasn't drafted, he wouldn't have turned pro. Khalifa could have gone far!

I think a lot of it is down to the different body types. Farag looks like he could better the handle the pyhsicality of pro squash while Khalifa might have been more skilled while in college.

Definitely a let on the last point 13;30. Ball was way behind him and farag was somewhat cleared but not in his swing. Khalifa was facing almost backwards when he tried to play that he was stroke hunting the whole game lol

@GregBorn
@GregBorn 8 жыл бұрын
+Darek Dyrtkowski Yes, Farag's ball popped out from the side wall and Khalifa was ready to play the ball while Farag was still in the way. Clear stroke. Bad luck but still a clear stroke.
@japeking1
@japeking1 8 жыл бұрын
+Greg Born The ball was past him. He could have got it back ( if Farag wasn't in the way ) but not to hit a winner. It was a let (because that was the correct call; because thats what I would have called; because of the game state at the time and because Khalifa had persistently questioned Farag's pick ups despite him always calling his own down when they were. Still a terrific game.
@aleoferdie
@aleoferdie 8 жыл бұрын
I think it was a let when Khalifa made the move to hit the ball the ball was behind him, he could never have volleyed that ball and make the winner. The only way he could played that ball was after hitting the wall and he wasn't hitting a winner in that case. I think he could even play the ball after the wall because Farag was no more in his way. It could even be a no let for some refrees.

Young Mister Farag should have been foot faulted numerous times. He continually dragged his trailing foot out of the service box on both sides of the court.

@@nortykid3017 too many referees don't call foot faults . In our leagues it almost always causes a bit of a furore when a foot fault is called, particularly against juniors. Farag has clearly sorted himself out, maybe as a result of being called.
