Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Why is it 30 dollars to ship a TShirt to Canada? :( Are you sending corn with it?
@MikhaelStants
@MikhaelStants 2 жыл бұрын
@@realredditstories420 most places you order online from can ship for 5 to 10 dollars for something as light as a tshirt with expedited shipping. Heck. Usps parcel is probably cheaper. I get that he’s not a large enterprise but i really think at 30 dollars(usd) he and his customers are being gouged for shipping. They might be using a flat international rate which is quite high for us to canada shipping. While I’m happy to support the channel and pay my hard earned Canadian pesos for the shirt, more than 50 percent of my cost was shipping at $73 CAD for one tshirt.

Becky needs to be recognized for her increasingly sharp editing and production skills. Short cuts back and forth, nice continuity to the general story line, good choice of what to put in and what not to put in - no fluff. Nice touch with constantly changing light and colors, from sun up to sun way down. Always telling a story. So Becky, great job! Really, every director needs a great video editor.

I noticed that you have to turn the grain input tubes by hand, just a thought I retired from Maxwell House Coffee (don’t drink coffee) but i worked in engineering and maintenance and we had Ele coffee tubes that sent Coffee to different silos turned by Ele from a computer and sensors that read metal flags to move the tubes to the correct silos. An operator watching a computer screen could send coffee to any silos that we needed, how ever once the metal flags happened to miss the sensor we had a mess of beans on the roof costing a bunch, so I took one of our Mechanics and just stayed with it until we caught what was causing the dump. It was simple as some of the flags got knocked out of Alignment, so we had an instrument man reset all the flags and no more problems, about $150,000 a year savings.

@@TFT-bp8zk so what is the typical desired "MOISTURE". I guess I'm asking.... I know the fact there was no rain this year and the corn didn't grow as much. But is there a blessing also in the fact that your not spending an arm and a leg to dry the corn.
@dkjphills79
@dkjphills79 2 жыл бұрын
@@TFT-bp8zk does a typical farmer budget for x amount of money loss during each harvest to dry corn. If yes is there an acceptable amount vrs unreasonable amount. It seems from a layman's point of view a farm is a giant seesaw. Dry weather, soil, corn breeds,water, wind, etc. Farming is one giant gamble.
@elhanson5426
@elhanson5426 2 жыл бұрын
Shelled corn needs to be kept at about 15.5 % to maintain grain quality and to keep it from spoiling. Depending on the relative humidity and air temperature MF can use the bin fans and just air to dry the corn the last 1-2%. Whether corn is used to make ethanol, feed, or other industrial uses it needs to be kept at 15.5% moisture. The exception is when hi-moisture corn is used in livestock feed where it can be stored at 23% moisture. But that requires air-tight storage to keep it in usable condition, (stored in Harvestore silos.)

How many acres do you farm, and is your farm big by US standard? Here in Norway we use a different measurement system, so i had to convert, and was suprised that this one field was 250 acres. That is about twice as large as normal farms are, atleast here on the west coast of Norway.
