This was an expensive video for me. 😊. I have a Kia Niro which is similar to your Prius in many ways, and I am afraid that I will duplicate your mount, the antenna, adapter and whip almost exactly. I basically have the same whip as you, I dug it out of my shed. Thanks for posting, I would not have known about this otherwise. I have had a real DK3 screwdriver bought from the late inventor for years, but it's been too big for anything smaller than the pickup I had when I bought it. This small screwdriver looks perfect for our modern small cars. I recognized your accent. You aren't too far from my wife's hometown (Marshall, IL) and where I went to college in the early 90s. I got the hd-330 from Amazon today and a mount like yours. I can confirm that it will work on a Kia Niro now, and the mount is pretty excellent. However when I plugged the DC controller into the unit and flipped the switch, nothing happened on the antenna. I checked and the power is at the coax pigtail end and does change polarity. Up is actually negative with respect to the ring on the connector. I messed with it a bit and got the antenna to work but only if I hold the pigtail from the motor (to the controller) in a certain way. So the connection in the motor housing is loose. Since I can't figure out how to open it up, probably not possible, it's going back via an Amazon return. I will update when I get a second unit. It's been that kind of day in spades. I am still looking forward to getting the whip adapters since the system will absolutely work on my car.

I ordered this adapter based off of this video. But buyers be aware that it comes in different versions with different threads for different antennas. pay close attention when ordering the one I ordered I will be sending back.

I love the FT-891 radio, that wasn't always the case. I ran across a video that helped with the noise. Find IPO in the function menu and turn in on. It shuts the pre-amp off. I set my DNR to 1. I also adjusted the RF setting to cut some of the noise floor. This helped a ton with the noise. Thanks for the video. I will have to look this antenna up.

Hey, great video! I bought this antenna along with the whip adapter that takes a standard stinger, but I'm having trouble removing the small black piece around the top threads. I’ve already taken out the small Allen screw from the plastic piece, thinking it might be screwed on, but when I try to turn it, the top thread moves along with it. How did you manage to remove that piece so the adapter could screw further down the threads?

I took a small pair of vice grips with a rag and clamped enough to hold threads without damaging and worked it loose. Mine had little bit of lock tight. Or could gently heat it up to work loose also. Hope this helps

Exactly what is the thread for the whip adapter, and where can I find one? I have one of these antennas and I've never used it. Thought about modifying the power cord so I can use it with a West Mountain Radio TargeTuner, and mount it on my retired Police Ford Explorer.. de KC8MWG

I got the antenna, and got the adaptor for the whip, but how do you put the adapter to it? The cone shape on top of the antenna won’t allow the adapter to screw in

Is the top cone that has the set screw in it, glued to the top part of the coil cover or is it all one piece? If that’s the case, do you just shave off that top cone area that has the set screw, so you can install the adapter?

Does this antenna work with the Ameritron SBC 102 screwdriver controller? I have one of those, and need to know if the Harvest antenna will work with it.
