My only complaint about the demo is that the days move too quickly. I want to spend more time farming and stuff.

Is the overall time in game limited? With stardew valley for instance you can play it infinitely, even though the days themselves are limited.

@@HaplessOne at the start you get to start the day at 10 am or so because of cutscenes. later it's 6 am until midnight.

At least there’s no due date or time on missions, but I definitely think the time should be longer. I hope the full game is improved a lot. I remember the characters in my time in Portia demo being different compared to the full version. I actually prefer this game over RF5, I just hope you can form some relationships in game. Like how we can a friendship with Aria at the end of the demo.

Thanks for the review! I've been looking forward to this game for months. The time system sounds a bit strenuous but I'm dying to experience a new take on the genre that might give me some of that Rune Factory fix. A compelling story is the main thing that seems to be missing from a lot of farm-sim type games.

Time is the biggest thing for me as well as some visual stuff the kind of blurring effect sometimes were off putting I’m already visually impaired but it was giving me a headache I’m not saying it will be a bad game I think I can get past a lot as long as they have a solid story but the time will be a big factor I think because I have so many games coming out around the same time that I’ll hold off on this game for now

If Stardew have time passing so fast and ppl still love the game so much, I don’t understand why Harvestella would be that negative on the time. Personally, I can’t wait to play it because it remind me so much of Rune Factory with a mix of FF graphic style. 😁

I just finished it the thing I don’t like is the camera angle has no auto reset and the target lock on is the worst. It’s hard to detect enemy and attack them when you’re trying to dodge their attacks

So I've put about 20 hours into the game and honestly, it's not bad. The issues come in deeper in the game, combat doesn't feel all that great and you'll need to stock up on food and juices a lot around lvl 30-40 since it's very hard to avoid damage, if they had an armor upgrade that would help a lot. As for the farming, it's a little barebones but does open up as you make progress. The best way I can describe the game is a hack and slash with farming elements, neither is amazing, but it leads to an interesting game. If sqex does updates and adds new features I can see this being a very good game.

Downloaded and played through the preview this morning. Found the game to be pretty basic, but fun. I don't mind the quick time pacing. It's kind of just like a puzzle piece to figure out. Since cucumbers take 4 days to grow, but you don't have to rebuy seeds for it, once you get past the first 8 days, you're making clear profit with them, and you won't have to spend time going to town and purchasing seeds. Just water them and go monster hunting. Now this strategy might change with the purchasing of the kitchen, and implementation of recipes. I was surprised to find the game was made by SE. I feels more like an indie game. 60$ price tag is a bit of put off. I agree, 30 to 40 seems closer to a good price point. I will definitely keep an eye out for a price drop!

Time is throwing me off. That's why I didn't like the Altelier series. Also I agree with you for the Voice acting. I feel the same about the new pokemon games. They are long overdue for voice acting

Nope. Not on my radar now. There are just too many of these types of game out there. I don't understand why it just can't be real time or at least like Hokko Life and Ooblets. Coral Island looks more interesting when it comes to console.

That was my big problem with Octopath Traveler: it’s way harder for me to follow a story if it’s only partially voice acted, ESPECIALLY when characters are saying something completely different from the text. I originally thought I had just grown lazy from games with all voice acting, but I played FF7 again recently and it was way easier to follow along in that story than Octopath.

It's not a bad game but the lack of being able to pick and customize your character and you can only be female no matter what three you pick you're always going to be female shows a lazy signs through Square Enix it's not that hard to fix that problem run factory did it better

You hit the nail on the head, my friend: feeling rushed in a game that should be relaxing is absolutely 100% bad design 👎 All they had to do was add an ENERGY system. Every task you do consumes energy. As you get more proficient at each task, you consume less energy. This way you can take your time, even keep it in real time if you wanted to or use a system to skip to night etc. I'm willing to bet they are losing 50-75% of potential customers for this awful design decision.

I think that the time problem could be fixed if the time paused when a fish bit the bait or when you are in a menu for crafting. Stardew has that mechanic and it makes the daytime length much more tolerable.

I was so looking forward to this game, I got the demo and played it, and all the negatives you mentioned made it hard to play, being visually impaired such shortened time makes it hard to get any exploring done to gather resources, add on the ton of reading no voice and small print and that just spoiled the game. And I really like the art style, different but still fun. Hey I will watch you play though....

I will be playing it, everyone was being a little too hard on this game for a demo. I think Squenix will fix what folks don't like. They aren't an indie company they have the resources. I think it will be good.

I have played this demo (I have it now) and it looks great on my OLED. I haven’t played it on my Lite to see if there is a difference. I pre-ordered it and can’t wait for the full release.

I don’t think it’s for me. Life/farm sims are cool and all, but I think I’m itching for a new open world rpg. I want the same feeling Kingdom Hearts gave me ya know? HOWEVER, I’ll still be here to watch you play though it if you choose to! Seems like a great game to stream

Sorry those first seven seconds were correctly incorrect and need to be correct because the graphics are meant to include same sex marriage in Harvestella it has harvest in the same and yes we need a Stardew Valley 2: The Same Sex Marriage Valley Game for Comfort for the marriage of our choice. Also it needs to be called The Story of Harvest Stardew.

I agree that this game is getting a lot of unnecessary hate for not being exactly like other farming sims. From the demo, it seems more RPG focused than farming and that definitely turned people away that expected mostly a farming sim. As for your complaint about time, they said it would be much more lenient in the full release and everything can be done at your own pace. The demo's time restriction really didn't help in this regard... They also mentioned 50-60 hrs for main story and additional 100 hrs for post game...so if the game is fun, it's definitely worth the $60 at least to me.

They should just remove the timer from map traversing altogether, seems like a huge waste of time is done on that map alone. Will be getting this on pc tho and modding the timer, will half the normal timer and hopefully stop the timer from the over world map.

I was excited for this. I tried the demo. No matter what gender you look the same. So I just made it female then later in the game they called me him. Even though I clearly choose female. I didn't even get to the harvest part. All this crap about something crashing into the town and I was this is dumb

I picked up the game, day one patch adjusts time used (from what I've heard.) That time constraint is brutal, even in the main game a medium sized dungeon area takes like three day shifts to run around. Sure makes me miss the half time song from Majora's Mask.

I ordered a physical copy but hopefully it's enjoyable. I grew up playing the RF games and RF 1 and 2 were terrible in my opinion so hopefully this is at least better than those I'm wondering if the full copy will let us have more customization in the characters or at least let us have fashion that reflect genders.

This review is pretty unfair, especially to suggest it’s not premium based on a demo.. 39.99? Based off of what? The intro? I appreciate your opinion though on everything else but yea… I have played the demo from start to finish and I usually don’t like games like this, but I was hooked. The time mechanic is subtly brilliant in the way it’s tied to your energy consumption. You need to plan out your day taking into consideration multiple factors. Why shouldn’t it take an hour to fish? It would take more than that in the real world. Why wouldn’t it take a couple of hours to repair a bridge using the materials you gathered? It adds such a layer. You won’t be able to rush a quest because time and materials don’t allow for it. I really enjoyed the planning required in order to unlock shortcuts to make my next attempt quicker. The fact that time does move quick doesn’t affect the story in the slightest either, it’s purely to grow crops to be able to grow and sell more. The combat isn’t basic for this type of game either, it’s deep with a talent system for each individual class which can be swapped out on the fly, with party members and their own unique skills. The demo has blown my mind and I will absolutely be picking this up, and I’ve never been hooked by any previous farming style games. This hits the sweet spot of growing, harvesting, selling, exploring, leveling.. building… need I go on? And this is just the demo.. I’m thoroughly excited to see what potential the full release has. A review of a demo is not fair, you’re advising people based on 4 hours of gameplay? I was only more impressed with the time mechanic the more I played, the more it made sense. I would highly recommend anyone download the demo and experience this first hand.
