So, you didn't put more than 10 hours into the game beyond Chapter 3? It only takes 1-2 hours to do Chapter 1, and 1-2 more hours to do Chapter 2. If the video clips didn't show Chapter 3A to 3C then you've never even hit the 10 hour mark yet.

I am at chapter 6 and I have to say this is a great game. The music , stories and characters, all of it is worth the time and money. This is definitely not for someone that likes cute farming games , you also need to be patient. This is one of my favorite game in a long time.

It's actually a good way to kill time and avoid mundane repetition. The main story quest is 40-50 hours long, with 10-20 hours worth of side quests. Ignore the farm as the 'money maker', look at it as the supporting feature to aid your character to finish the main story quests. You need food to regenerate stamina and get buff while healing, so you can spam more attack skills and swap jobs to spam more skills. You need drinks to instant heal like potions, some has extra effects like heal stamina or regen hp. You need materials to upgrade your weapons, to dish out more DPS. You eventually can combine accessories to synthesize new ones, and possibly up to 4 slots of effects too. It's a Sci-fi Fantasy RPG through and through, of trying to save 'worlds' (plural). 90% of your early money will come from doing side quests, save those up for necessary upgrades, and get free seeds from killing monsters or gathering them randomly in later dungeons. Then you can invest in huge variety of crops later on to keep a selection of ingredients for recipes, and use those to turn in meal quest rewards for even more money. Invest money to make money so to speak. Grind up levels, while it seems like you gain tiny amounts of stats, it will stack in your favor later on when the going actually GETS tough in difficulty scaling, be glad you are not being one shotted basically.

I have played this game since its Demo and it is a wonderfully done game. Here's the thing, if you avidly follow Final Fantasy story archs like I do it makes perfect sense in the story. Overall the game is a nice and interesting Farming simulator. Combat is exciting real time ACTION COMBAT. So if you want to dodge you need to learn timing and think statagy because you need to MOVE not just tap a button. The scenery is beautiful if you take moments to appreciate what your looking at rather than judge on textures at first look. The characters are engaging and have personality to them. Overall I would give it an 8.5 and call it the grown up Harvest Moon game.

I love Square and I like a lot of games like this but it just looks like it lacks polish. Totally different graphics but Stawdew made by a single dev looks so much more rich in animations and content then this so far. Its 2022 I dont think 3D object Monsters should just be spinning on an axis during combat.

The bad thing about games that are born mainly to be played on nintendo systems is that they are all clunky and way shittier than it could be. Specially in the switch era. Monster Hunter is probably the best port to pc but the rest just doesn't feel right, the controls are always weird and feels like they just don't put enough effort to it. If you only play on nintendo systems with will probably be good enough, but if you are used to a really premium experience, well... The ps2 had prettier and more fluid games and how many decades ago was that?

It’s a pretty game, and after a week of playing it, that’s the most positive thing I can say about it. It’s jam-packed with relentless and endless reading, reading, and also reading. My final verdict: If I’d wanted to read this much I would just skip the Switch and pick up a good novel. This game is so boring that the difficulty level is all about staying awake.

Enix is not known to setting their games at affordable prices. Back in NES and SNES they had prices like 80-100 dollars. To be honest I feel games are much cheaper now then in 80’s to 90s especially given passage of time and inflation of costs. I expected that games would be 150 dollars to buy. So yes it be nice to have it at 20 dollars I can’t see that happening in next 10 years

Game’s addictive. The endless reading without a skip option is so bad I actually get up take a piss with the controller in hand just to spam the B button… Also Having to hit the bed before 12 AM every night really sucks ass! It wouldn’t be so bad if the time travel between towns didn’t speed up the clock. I do like the Job system and the farming aspect of the game. Having blocked areas until you learn a recipe like bombs is cool and kinda reminds be of Zelda. I like how some of the enemies are done and how different weapons or magic hits different monsters with damage.

The time limit for each day is criminal. No time to explore as the in game time is on steroids...spoils the flow as you have to watch your time constantly (played demo btw). Rune factory had it right, this does not, they could learn a lesson or two from other farming/adventure style games. Its a no from me (buy on a heavy sale at a push.) Unless they address some of the short comings you mentioned in this review. cheers!....Oh and nearly forgot, good luck choosing a male character!

It’s well known that the time flow was changed after feedback from the demo, among many other quality of life adjustments. That was the purpose of the demo. I suggest watching a wider variety of sources to get proper information on the game to avoid making incorrect judgements.

You did however remain open to the possibility that if they address some of the issues present in the demo, it would make it more likely for you to purchase. It seems that you are making the same mistake as others. The demo was provided as a way to make adjustments based on user feedback. The game was then updated to reflect that, so the flow of time was improved in the full game among many other quality of life changes. Please do more research.

The video is a joke, because he says there is no dodging, when there is a 'dodge' skill though it's not suppose to be a dodge, some enemies have telegraphed attacks, but standard melee hits or ranged shots that are instant can't be dodged or stepped out of. It's more like a FF12 and expecting to run past a enemy unscathed when they take a 'action' next to you basically. And the review did not reach Chapter 3. Or Chapter 4-6 where the main story diverges into Double Helix Paradoxes... Harvestella is more like Chrono Cross but the audience can't notice the details. "Fantasy" as in Science Fantasy maybe...?
