Bob glad you rescue these little turtles, i also love the Quilt in Gregs office
@dianewurzer30194 жыл бұрын
Please do this more often and as a favor to me tell Bob and Greg I love what they’re doing they warm my heart. As a 10-year-old which was a long time ago I had two painted turtles and when they got too big to take care of I turned them loose in Foxlake. I loved them ,but it was better for them. I have always been a nature lover and animal lover I’ve rescued cats dogs and some birds,oh yes almost forgot crayfish, salamanders. I kept five cats that I rescued and one dog life has been great. I didn’t catch the name of the other gentleman that helps Bob ,my thanks to him also, And to you Ed my sincere thanks it’s nice to see what you’re doing for nature and how much you love it. If I weren’t handicapped I’d still be out there doing things for animals I have great respect for all of you gentlemen . THANK YOU 🙏 🐰 🦆🐕 🐈 🦎 🐢 🐝. 🤗

I loved this episode Ed! Completely agree with Bob that education is key; everything on this Earth is connected bc that's how it was designed so I also believing in protecting even our smallest organisms. Ultimately, what affects them will also eventually affect us 🐢🌏💦

Hey Ed - love your videos. we are building a new pond and were considering adding turtles - western painted native here. we are at about 5,000' in western CO - gets ice on the pond for a couple of months. do these guys hibernate under water or on shore? do they dig holes in the liner? what do I need to do to keep them and still have a pond in good shape? Should I add an Hibernaculum? (Sp?) what about biting my Koi?

Can you tell me how these babies survive if they are not rescued? How do they dig themselves out - find the water - and then survive the winter as babies? Good grief! Talk about a tough start - they do this in the fall!
@TEAMAquascape4 жыл бұрын
They hatch in the fall with a yolk sac or spend all winter underground and come out in the spring. They actually have a natural kind of antifreeze in their blood. Nature is amazing
@julieenslow59154 жыл бұрын
@@TEAMAquascape That is amazing! I really don't get how they breathe - underground with snow and ice on top of it. But nature has created so many things I can't understand so I don't doubt you. I am however happy to know it so thank you!
