I have watched a half-dozen other tutorials on harvesting birch bark, and yours is the only one that THOROUGHLY covers the process, from A to Z. Thank you!

A tip: you can watch series at kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.

Hi, this is the best vid on sustainable birch bark harvesting I have ever seen, but I have a question. if I wanted to harvest from a live standing tree, is the trick to leave the corky cambium layer intact? Can or should you harvest the entire perimeter of bark? I believe it does not matter. Thanks for the detailed video.

Yes, leave the inner bark. Outer can be taken in full diameter.

Early summer is the best time to harvest off live trees. Well... the bark comes off the easiest but the bugs will eat you alive.

Lol the bark grows back 5 years, if it wasn't intended for us to take it wouldn't be there.
