The scientific name of Flacourtia Jangomas (Lour.) Raeuschel is Flacourtia Jangomas (Lour.) Raeuschel, belonging to the Mung Quan family (Flacourtiaceae). Uses: The young fruit is crushed and pressed to make juice, used to treat stomachache and diarrhea. The ripe fruit is very delicious and is used to make jam. Leaves treat cough and asthma.

The fruit is shaped like a grape, 1.5 - 2.5cm in diameter, has sepals, is bright red when green, changes from red to dark purple when ripe, then black, with red flesh. Yellow color, sweet and sour taste, with many flat seeds.
In Vietnam, red army trees usually only grow in the northern midlands and mountainous areas. They bear fruit once a year, from August to September when the fruit is ripe.
