I like your setup you have going to do a 1/8 screen where I can get the capsules for more worms and use the casting to make worm tea
@pachamamawormsLLC Жыл бұрын
We will be selling them soon, but also if you type red wigglers cocoons on google, you'll find different websites where they sell them.

Thank you for your videos.. I've learned so much from you since i found your channel . I do have a question though.... i have sifted out all the worms from a big bin now, and now i have about 4 totes of babies and cacoons . Im kindof nervous to use the sifter because i dont want to kill the babies that have already hatched. Would you suggest maybe a bait cup to draw them out? 🤔
@pachamamawormsLLC5 ай бұрын
Thank you! We usually don't sift for at least a couple of weeks so that we give time for the babies to grow up big enough so that they don't fall through.

i like your setup bud. how do you store your castings? how long can castings be stored for? how do you care for the castings once stored?
@pachamamawormsLLC10 ай бұрын
We don't store our castings. Whatever doesn't sell right there, we'll use it on our pastures. Castings is something that shouldn't be stored for long periods of time even though some will disagree, because the microbial life and the amendments properties will decrease dramatically.

Hey! Great video. Do you have a link to your bins? I would love to work with them'
@pachamamawormsLLC Жыл бұрын
Not really, they are just the regular mortar mixing tubs from home depot or lowes.

This is a fantastic video. Lots of information, thank you very much. I'm just starting out. I have had Red Wigglers outside for years. Some in big compost bins, some in a small worm farm for catching worm tea fertiliser. Now I am going to set up some trays inside to breed them like you are doing. Can you tell me please what size meshes you are using in the separator? I will make the same separator system just like yours.
@pachamamawormsLLC Жыл бұрын
Thank you! The mesh on the bottom is 1/8 of an inch, and the one on top is 1/4 of an inch.

That is a great set up. I've got a CFT bin here in the UK and it's producing eggs but they take a long time to hatch due to it being winter right now. What temperature do you use to hatch your eggs? I'm a new subscriber and I'm going to do a small set up just like yours, if I need a couple of heat pads to regulate temperatures, I'll get them. I love your sieve system, I'll find the video where you make it and build one. Thanks for the vid.

I have a worm bin for the castings. Do you sift the cocoon castings once they all hatch to get more castings?
@pachamamawormsLLC Жыл бұрын
No, because they're too small and they will sift through, I'll wait at least until they're juveniles.
