i might be pretty new to beekeeping, so i can only assume he has no experience with bees, because if he had any experience at all, he would know to not shake the hive, and defiantly dont bang on it!!! even though i usually dont use smoke, its a pretty standard part of beekeeping, for keeping them calm.

This fool would die if not for that crew following him around. LOL. Like most of these "reality" shows, you have to take it with a grain of salt. A friend of mine rents cabins to the "Alaskan Homesteader" reality people. They sit in a cabin and eat Dominos Pizza waiting for the director to call them for their scene. Same with "Ice Road Truckers." They purpose built a road for them. This guy can survive a trip to the mall, that's about it.

I believe these bees are a native stingless variety judging by the entrance they've constructed he's being bitten not stung it's a huge difference he wouldn't try this with Africanized colony without any smoke or protection.

why did he shout when he dropped, did he not intend to fall? it seemed like a good way to escape the danger. also how many stings did he get. he couldn't use smoke or something? seems like an amateur job. I didn't think it was safe to just go in there and let yourself get stung. People can die from that if it's wasps instead of bees.

This show has the premise and script for all six seasons and all episodes. He briefly meets with indigenous groups (maybe), walks across jungles, savannah, plains, makes a fire and shelter, fishes, swims across rivers, discovers snakes (some unusual), bugs, plants, eats what he finds that might be edible. That's it. Boring. Then next episode it's off to a repeat of the previous episode. Same sound effects and dramatic music every episode. It's Groundhog Day movie meets Primal Survival. Wonder if NatGeo or this host compensate the indigenous people in anyway for their skills and knowledge they contribute. My guess is they don't.
