This video demonstrates how wild peanut species are mechanically harvested from the greenhouse for the plant genetic resources conservation unit. The plant genetic resources conservation unit is the location for the national peanut germplasm collection. Wild peanut germplasm is regenerated and maintained to preserve and provide availability of genetic resources to plant breeders. This step by step procedure shows how the unit preforms this activity and emphasizes the importance and crucial role germplasm collections are for improving peanut cultivars.
