Harvey New COMPASS MG-36 Miter Gauge

I have been using an Incra 1000SE for years and it was fine, but slightly time intensive to adjust. Also, the Incra seems (from my viewpoint) to be a culmination of many parts that were combined in order to assemble the final miter product. The Incra does produce high quality, square repeatable results, but at a time cost. My MG-36 arrived today, and without reading the instructions I had it unpacked, assembled, and making test cuts in about the time it would have taken me to move the extension arm on the Incra to the other side of the miter and rearrange the finicky stop block. The MG-36 appears to have been designed and engineered from scratch with every little detail carefully considered. The design, tolerances, quality, workmanship, and ease of use are absolutely ridiculous. At first, I was not so sure about the mitered fence but after a few test cuts I liked the visibility I had with the fence sloped out of the way. It's likely I will add a 1/4" MDF sacrificial fence guard. However, I will adjust the MDF slightly proud of the fence edge for zero clearance applications on smaller stock. Additionally, the stop block adjuster on the MG-36 is accurate because i tested it with a dial indicator. The fence is more heavy duty than my Incra. so it is thinner giving me a little more room between the fence and blade. Every part on the MG-36 is strong, heavy duty, fits and works together perfectly. If I were going to change anything, I would position the fence attachment bolts slightly higher, or make the knurled portion of them thicker so they are a little easier to grip.
