I had gotten a spam call a few months ago and the lady on the other end was asking about a Chase bank account that I supposedly had on file with the "company" she was representing. I told her that's really weird because I don't have an account with them or Chase but she insisted that it was correct. I proceeded to then ask her if she was from Delhi or Kolkata. She paused like she'd been caught and she didn't know what to say so she just kept repeating herself, insisting that I have this Chase account. I imagine her goal was to pull some form of the refund scam but I hung up and blocked the number before she could do anything else. I always try to mess with scammers a little when they call me which is very rare these days.

At this point, I lecture them about how shamed and embarrassed her family would be by her behavior. Scammers always hang up before I do and, while I find that Indians maybe have a shred of upset when family is mentioned, Nigerians could care less. They allow me to verbally brutalize them and, if they think there might be ten cents for them at the end of the scam, they’ll hang in for all sorts of abuse. No shame in Nigeria!

I headed over to the classic, "We're sorry but the number you have dialed is no longer in service" video and then I picked up the line, pressed play and when the video was done I heard a click. They stopped calling for a REALLY long time after that. I think the bamboozlers got bamboozled.
