Nice to see Kempower in Australia. The Finns are leading the world in electrical charging infrastructure. Australia can learn a lot from Finland.

Absolutely. We need that kind of reliability to give EV drivers the confidence to go for long drives 👍

Great video and I also own some stocks from the company, which is doing great 👍 Btw I got the tip from Björn

Congrats Tom on 26k subs!!!!! Kempower definitely are amazing and what they are doing. Far more reliable than that other company from Queensland starting with T. Kempower are my favourite chargers but also like Alpitronics and Delta. EHT in Tasmania has moved over to Kempower for all their new installs unless they are 24kW sites then its ABB. I noticed the State of Victoria was there, would love to go in with a t-shirt with Chris Vanderstock's pic on it and the words: You Lost - Pay us back!! ;) (yes I'm a b.......) hehe

The biggest network of charges in Tassie is thanks to a private company - Electric Highways Tasmania. They have Kempower machines, as well as Tritium. From my external view, EHT have been plagued by commissioning problems with their Kempower units. Now some are in use, the failures are starting. One site is already operating at half capacity due to parts failure. It's very easy to be the "[market leader] killer" without the track record to prove it. Like every new press release about a EV sedan ends up with the headline of "Tesla Model 3 killer!"

Hmm that's disappointing to hear. I may hit them up in time to come for actual uptime stats in Australia

I love the kempower display. It tells tou if the charger is maxed out due to power sharing at the site or that the car has asked for less power than the charger can supply.
@LudicrousFeed Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Stems from the fact that the Kempower team are all EV drivers and know what is needed

99% up time, that should be the yardstick for every charger manufacturer, modular setup is a very smart design, can’t wait to see these chargers populate 😁

Its marketing, 99% is not realistic in the US market

@@s13dad82South Australia has implemented a bucket load of these chargers, they range from 200klw to100klw and imo they lead our country with there rollout, I wish Victoria followed there lead, time will tell but my bet they will be the yardstick going forward

They look like good DC fast chargers. Yes please develop virtual queues via QR codes. When someone is next in line and the previous car has disconnected they should be given 5 minutes to start charging otherwise get put one position back in the queue and after missing your spot 3 times are taken out of the queue and need to scan again to join the queue?
@LudicrousFeed Жыл бұрын
Virtual queue and physical spaces to wait also. Perhaps a digital billboard to see who are the next few in line much like what they have at fast food outlets 👍
@lavectech Жыл бұрын
Good idea, make it clear there is a queue for the charger. Could have a big QR code appar every so often to queue from a distance?

Any restaurant that doesn't have a rapid (40-50KW) charger in their parking lot is missing out on a growing band of customers who now time their meals to be when their car needs a recharge too. A mobile charger that has minimal install costs like this is a no brainer if you're a diner along a main road between cities.
@LudicrousFeed Жыл бұрын
Agreed, particularly along major arterials but I'd go one further to say they need to be 100kW minimum that way there can be a greater turnaround for more cars to use it. Big difference in charge time between 50kW and 100kW

Finland used to build rock solid phones, up until the iPhone took over. Fingers crossed their chargers stand the test of time, and withstand the elements, especially here!

Yes that's true! Good old Nokias were tough as. We need them to be sheltered like the ones being rolled out in WA
@PCLoadLetter Жыл бұрын
@@LudicrousFeed The ones at KFC Goulburn South have no shelter at all. Typical. Goulburn is exposed to bloody everything nature can throw at you. Wind is a huge problem most of the year. Sunshine in the summer there is intense, with low rainfall and little potential for cloud cover.
@LudicrousFeed Жыл бұрын
Crazy that DC chargers are not sheltered. Why wouldn't you protect your 6 figure investment?
@PCLoadLetter Жыл бұрын
@@LudicrousFeed They don't seem to care about using them as chargers. They're there to placate the local council. They haven't actually served the motoring public yet. If they break down later on, I imagine they wouldn't be repaired.

Not being a Nay sayer but coming from the IT industry 99% uptime isn’t that great really as it means the charger could be down for over 3.5 days in total for the year. But it’s a positive move with a difficult product to protect and maintain in the real world 👍
