Nope Makati has still a unique vibe from exclusive gated subdivisions to high end shopping malls and that ordinary local streets are the ones which make Makati more bustling and alive compared to artificial BGC

That Shangri-La Makati hotel was my home for a whole month in 2008 while Momcation was working. Glorieta became my hangout, I walked/jogged and had coffee at Starbucks there. After a couple weeks there you get tired of that place and you wanna go back to the US. BGC wasn't born yet.

Shangrila Makati and BGC smells like nice flowers of a garden when you enter its premises.

Swatch came out with a special edition to commemorate the Philippines' 100 years of independence in 1998. It was designed by the Chairman of Ayala Land, the developer of the mall.

M.Manila has 16 business districts like Aseana, Ayala center, Circuit Makati, Rockwell, Newport city, Ortigas center, Greenhills, Greenfield district, C5 corridor, Eastwood , Araneta center, Triangle park, BGC, McKinley hill, Arca south, and Alabang. These are the business districts that you can visit while you're in Manila. The old Manila is more on museums, parks, and the oldest Chinatown in the world.

The Mall culture in PH will never go away; the absense of public spaces will solidify their existence. FYI, the whole Ayala makati malls are set to get a facelift starting this year.

I don't see anyone flocking to Rizal park though. The mall culture will remain not because of lack of parks, but because Filipinos want a cooler environment. Trees actually make the environment more humid.

One of the cool foodie scenes in Makati is the Salcedo Weekend market. The Landmark has a "filipino" section that had some awesome old school hats (got a dope stitched Bahay Kubo hat for like 5 dollars)

When you get a chance, can you please check out ARCA and discuss the buying process of a condo in the Philippines if you are a US citizen? Some foreigners are having a hard time selling their units- just wondering why. Thanks

Makati CBD is still a place to live today, but BGC is more modern and new place to live to bec of its cheap food and condos, clean surroundings, also safe walking in all streets. BGC and Makati CBD is just 2-3 kms away.

Greenbelt 3 has a huge Adidas "Brand" store. Alot of the sneaker stores are by it too, Nike, Anta and some other chinese brands. Also theres a Flagship Uniqlo store with a Uniqlo coffee bar in Glorietta 5. That higher end Greenbelt 2 is kinda boring. Also, the Peninsula Manila is a classic. They have a fancy green Jeepney and a $20 Halo Halo (its high quality but $20 for it in the Phillipines is like Erewhon level crazy)

By the way, I was requested to look for that women's phillippines soccer kit, but even the Brand store didn't have it, according to them, they only stocked it during the world cup and not a big run of them

The malls in Asia are awesome because everything you want is in them. From doctors' offices to supermarkets and let's not forget all sorts of sit-down restaurants and movie theaters also the malls are centrally located with mass transit that leads to all of them. But in the United States, you have none of that, and that's why the malls are closing left and right. Talk about a joke. On another note when I was in the Philippines 🇵🇭 10 years ago I felt like peppermint patty with everyone calling me sir now I know how she feels😋😋😋 here's a suggestion for you Jay it may be cool to show some of the not so nice areas in Manila to give your trip a contrast just a little tip, we'll catch you on the next video
