I never said it was. There was no way it was getting cancelled. Chris’ games in the past have always been delayed but awesome and sq42 is going to be epic. Also, the sq42 monthly reports also gave away the fact it was not cancelled.

@@ItIsntJack Could be, impossible to say. On roadmap they have sceduled work until September for SQ42. If all work needed is scheduled and visible on roadmap it would indicate it's done on September and after that some sort of testing and bug fixing period before actual release.

Acams razor, simpleist answer is often correct. This is likely a but, perhaps there have been a lot of changes, and maybe someone clicked something when adding the new ships, breaking the link. If they were going to make a big change they would likely announce it. While i dont agree with the way they are transparent, CIG is far more transparent than any other game company. Thus if this was intentional, someone somewhere would have mentioned it.

I’m pretty sure they took it off the store because they don’t wanna have everyone buy their game for $45…. Only the people who backed the game wayyyy before it’s release get the lower price. More likely than not it’s going to be a $60 game when it releases not to mention a lot of the money that people pay for ships and all the subscriber money goes to the development of SQ42. My guess is because we’ve been hearing a trailer is going to release by the end of the year they’re prepping for the game to be pre ordered for the full price once that trailer drops instead of just up charging more for the initial price in a overnight change. They’re extremely strategic with their market and marketing so it wouldn’t surprise me. I also don’t wanna forget; one of their biggest marketing strategies is to give you the buyer fomo(fear of missing out)so when all these players who are new hear that theirs a single player game being made and they go looking for it but can’t find anything it gives them a sense of waiting to buy it. Like it’s stuck in the back of their thoughts kind of thing

It's not cancelled, it's just taken off the road map for now. I don't know how people figure that something is taken away just because we don't see it. CIG does this all the time, and it's not the first time CIG has taken something off the road map just to bring it back a few months later, in the round table as 5-27-2023. Not one dev said anything about SQ42 being cancelled, it was even brought up that it's still currently being worked on, because there's still ships that have to be put into the game.

Squadron 42 isn't being canceled, it's never going to be canceled unless CIG goes bankrupt & closes its doors. In fact, I expect SQ42 to actually be completed & released in another 2-3 years. If you follow the monthly reports, they're about 85% of the way done. We'll see.

They are going to try and pull an Overwatch 2, its going to get a LOT of flak if they do it.....but for an even bonkers idea, its going to get released THIS year and its going to get a price bump to full 60 or 70 dollars. @@mercenum5186 The SQ42 idea of being released this year is as I said, a bonkers idea, it would be amazing if they can pull it off like release the first 20 chapters of it (if they even have that down already... which I dont believe they do) and call it SQ42 Part 1, BUT really If we go by CIGs track record, we will probably see "snippets" or another vertical slice of the SQ42 SPG at citizen CON probably a cleaned up version of what they released in the previous years, then they will announce the price bump and say its 2 years out just to ride into the Starfield bandwagon and then miss that date again just the same, because they dont have anything to show for it at all and hope that everyone forgets about it for the next decade or two.

I was thinking they might take it out of their store for release on other platforms. S42 is a packaged game, it could go to Epic, Steam, GoG, the consoles.... Its a game. Possibly part of the distribution's contract is to have control of sales. Of course that would imply that release is darn near imminent. I know many games have locked into 1 year exclusive sales to a distributer for better contracts. There has never been a discussion from CIG on how the sale of S42 would be handled or if consoles were included. All the Wing Commander games were on consoles... No reason S42 would be different, and it would precisely explain why there was such a massive delay from its 2016 release date.

Selling to PC is going to be slow as most interested parties have already purchased the game. Consoles for S42 is not just a possibility..... for new cash its a must. They need to launch both at the same time to maximize cash inflow. At the end of the day CIG is going to do what it takes to be profitable.

I personally think they should make Squadron 42 part of the overall persistent universe instead of a stand-alone game. Basically, just make it a huge introduction / tutorial to the online game. You play through Squadron 42, learn the game mechanics and earn some money, ships and items that carry over to the online game. At the end of the story, you leave the UAE Navy and start living your life in the persistent universe.

Anyone who plays SC will eventually buy SQ42....its just inevitable, If you want an F7A/Lightning, and more, you wont get it unless you purchase SQ42, its a fact.
