The cost of living across Ontario depends on where you live, with larger cities having higher living expenses than those in less developed areas. And even though minimum wage rose to $17.20 per hour in the province on Oct. 1, it is still not enough to live in many places. The Agenda looks at the pros and cons of adjusting minimum wage according to local costs, and whether a livable wage is an idea whose time has come. Then, how are restaurants that raised prices to get rid of tipping faring in a time when the industry is already struggling with rising costs, labour shortages and shifting consumer habits?
