Hi, From Malda Considered North Bengal Technically. As per the last HDI index of Districts of 2022 my district (Malda) . Yes the economic centre is still Kolkata. The big chunk of Politicians believe that WB is a "agricultural STATE" and should stay that way. The few other big towns you see other than Kolkata are rather mines based or tourism. There is no social ladder here, especially in NORTH BENGAL. Rampant cultural invasion, huge rate of corruption exacerbates the situation even further. From the politics to Opinion everything is just centred around Kolkata. We are treated like Step mother. CM mamata Banerjee did try to set up a H.Q. of North Bengal in Siliguri but it failed miserably. Cause there is no economic drive at all. Yes, i do believe there should be a separate STATE OF NORTH BENGAL.

I am from malda, things are complicated then u explained it the reality is the requirements for separate UT is only within the people's of darjeeling and Kalimpomg, not the district of malda uttar Dinajpur and South dinajpur. And there are no napali people from this place. This areas are mostly ST and SC populated and yes there are illegal immigration of bangladeshi people which include hindus and Muslims and they have indian documents. There are contractors who help people cross borders and the security force is also included in this to some extent

The real issue is Gorkhas may claim to merge with Nepal in future. If you check Nepali websites you will find that they are talking of a greater Nepal including parts of Uttarakhand to Sikkim. This will only encourage insurgency in future and will be threat to India's security. China will do everything to rally Nepalese as they have done in Kalapani & Lipulekh.

Nicely described... I am from North Bengal and I also North Bengal as UT.... Here are few points which you may include in your next video on this topic: Political discrimination: Since independence there is no resident of North Bengal became CM of West Bengal. If you look at historically you will find north bengal MLAs always get portfolio of lesser importance irrespective of Govt. Infrastructure: There is no local train system in north bengal. There is no Airport in North Bengal which operate 24hrs. (& Tourism is one of the main industry here) There is no proposal of metro or RRTS in north bengal region. Road infrastructure is also poor. There is no express way in this region. Educational Institute: West bengal has IIT, IIM, NIT, AIIMS, Central university but none of this is situated in North Bengal. I guess one can't find any parallel of this in any other state. North East State Status: Assam and Sikkim both are north east state. Major part of north Bengal is in between this two state with similar terrain but north bengal don't have any north east state status which discourages industries to invest here. I am mentioning only a few discrimination of this region and there are many more.... Its time for GOI to make it an UT so that this region can utilize its full potential to contribute in nation building....

West Bengal is already suffering economically and financial deficit is next to Punjab as an state. We better create UT or state separate from main land Bengal and focus reprising jobs infrastructure and financial boom. A larger area and population in India is yet the challenge faced by our nation. If USA can have 50 states and each state per capita income or gdp contribution leads the nation ahead than why can’t we.?
