Met him when he visited my college and was testing out this show/the medium. I covered it for the paper (mainly bc I wanted to meet him). He was the nicest guy. Asked all of our names, shook our hands, gave us his full attention, gave us real answers, and gave us more time than he was supposed to give, and asked us about our lives. What a great, talented, funny guy.

The conversation with Tan was interesting because Hasan and him talked about experiences they have both gone through. It wasn’t about the shopping at all. They are both funny, likeable, and they can present stories that are new to some of their audience, and relatable to other viewers.

The work Hasan does makes me feel like the world has some hope, and the positive future we are looking towards gets traction, happening now. I feel like it’s okay to be optimistic through his work and others across the industry. Hasan, we don’t care if the SAT’s say you got a 1310, we think you’re one of the most brilliant minds 💙

You are hillarious, sensitive, energetic, fast, positive, your message is just changing people's life. And last but not least your vision n perspective of this world is really real n unique.

So cool to hear Hasan say that he hopes to one day be the type of show where people think "They made an episode on this so it *must* be something good" and to feel like that is 100% the type of show they make now - I never doubt for a second that whatever the episode topic is it is something I have a) not considered before and b) something I will walk out of the episode deeply thinking and caring about.

Not to take anything from John Stewart, but there is a long tradition of comics semi serious satarical comments on political events. we Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live. Before that was Steve Allen, Mark Twain did it in his live lectures, Shakespeare did it in his plays, and you can take it all the way back to the court jester whose job was to make satirical comments in order to release some of the tension behind current events. I am missing a lot of great folks in that summation. For certain news media outlets to not recognize this is a traditional and necessary form of comedy with a long and proud tradition shows how they don't understand their own responsibility to the public. Keep going, guys. We need you :)
