Let's face it, we're not 5-year-olds opening gifts under the Christmas tree. We're adult collectors who like to know what's coming so we can plan out our collection (and avoid paying eBay prices). So I think the focus on being "surprised" is misguided.

Another shoutout! Lol, anyway, I was impartial to the pipelines. It was cool to see the progression of rumor to pipeline to reveal to in-hand. But, in cases like Ki-Adi, it had a lot of fans wondering "When is he coming out?" If a figure is pipelined and then delayed for whatever reason, I can understand where the frustration is. I'm with Justin, though. I don't need surprises. Seeing pipelines would be a great feeling and then seeing the final product didn't lose effect to me. It was cool to see a character pipelined and then the hype being built up to "Let's see how they do it!"

Hasbro’s (and even worse, Lucasfilm) obsession with secrecy is so overblown. The figures are still gonna leak. The idea that Hasbro will have some awful livestream where every reveal is a legit surprise is completely ridiculous. Tell us what figures are coming and keep the secrets for teenage girls Hasbro.

Pipeline doesn't bother me, I just hate having to pre-order stuff a year or so in advance. There's some figures that if you don't get in that first day of pre-orders, you may never get it. I pre-ordered Darth Malak from Entertainment Earth and they've continued to back up my pre-order so much that the pre-order for the first release of the figure has turned into a pre-order for the re-release of the figure. Plus the fact that my local Walmart/Targets don't seem to stock anything worth buying as the holocom series & General Lando's are still taking up the space.

I love the idea, i currently play Gacha games, and i recently started to ignore "Gameplay reveals" because that just spoils the fun of collecting characters or the fun of getting characters solely because i like them; i think going back to the "We have no idea what's coming next" instead of the constant negativity that assaults a figure that does not meet (Frankly) unrealistic standards and actually being surprised as to what the eggheads at Hasbro are making behind curtains is a really good change, kind of harking back to the early years of collecting where nobody really knew what was coming next. Also since everyone is hell bent on the "I WanT to PLAn OuT mY ColLEcTION" BROTHER THE ENTIRE FUN OF COLLECTINGIS FINDING THINGS IN THE WILD THAT YOU DIDN'T EXPECT TO BE THERE, it's like finding a treasure where there shouldn't have been one. Also remember how awesome it was when Hasbro finally reissued the figures we were aching to get? I think that knowing those figures would come out again would have been so boring.

It’s definitely corporate speak. Less communication is not good. Hasbro resources may be changing so they are drawing back on telling fans what is coming. They feel it decreases purchasing confidence to verbally commit and deliver less.

I Think it would be smart if they scaled back black series in general since some people collect so many lines already. It would balance scales if they only released so much at a time they don't have to like major scale back not like significantly but just enough they've been doing that anyway . And as someone who collects other likes my self black series is always on the chopping block when there are other stuff announced like marvel Legends for example . I also think we will get paint deco and stuff if this happens

I think this is actually smart thing, Luminara and Shaak Ti had my jaw sitting pity on the floor with that reveal. Sebulba was a nice surprise too. I like to know in one respect so I know that I need to budget for them, but that surprise reveal made my fuckin day, truly. Now all I need is a Depa Billaba, Jocasta Nu, Yaddle, and Quinlan Vos. Wouldn't turn down Jolee Bindo, Cere Junda, Kay Vess, Merrin, Iden Versio, Bode Akuna, etc from the games if we making requests. lol

With pipelines you know some of the figures that are coming and can plan for them. With surprises, and the shorter production runs they will just create FOMO, and with how some of these outlets are working when a figure is released... well... 100% agree on the "live" streams... they are everything but fun, despite the heavy use of that word during. And let's be honest a bit more... many of the mandated figures from shows recently especially haven't really excited that much. Also the earnings report for Q3 for 2024 have just been released too and it's not good.. However within it there might be a poke at LFL/Disney, as they precisely point out Star Wars being "revenue soft".

Ok, time for this lurker to chime in. First of all, love to hear your thoughts on this topic. As for me, I hate knee-jerk reactions for anything. Not every figure was pipelined before. I’d be curious to know, since the pipeline started, how many figures have been released vs how many of those figures were actually pipelined(sounds like a research project for Mike Kaess) Yes, a lot of them were, but not all. And Mr Stevie did say pull back on the pipelines, not eliminate. I agree with your assessment so I am Team Pipeline, I’m just not as affected by this as it sounds like many other collectors are. Yeah with competing imports,or collectors having to plan ahead,pipeline gave collectors somewhat of an idea of planning in a world where they already release figures on dates different from which they are announced with pre purchase. All I feel they are doing is themselves a disservice if collectors get frustrated. I guess we’ll see how it plays out. Maybe it opens the door for more leakers but with that comes more false reports

Just a thought, if Hasbro isn’t making as many figures or they have cut back on production. This could be a way of discouraging scalpers from buying a whole lot of figures before most people can get them. If they don’t know when a poplar figure is coming out then it’s harder to plan when to get them.

I'm with you guys, in that I don't really need the surprise and if I did then the fact that the character is being revealed as a pipeline is the surprise I need. Not having as many pipeline reveals only plays to Hasbro's favour and not ours, It means that they can get a way with stuff knowing full well that we the collectors won't see the figure until it's done and dusted.

I think the reason they want to reduce or get rid of the pipeline, has a lot more to do with the negativity in the live streams. Since it feels like every time they do a live stream there are at least some people who are really upset that the one thing they wanted in the pipeline wasn’t revealed. It also feels like sometimes people get upset that nothing new was revealed when it was mostly just stuff that was pipelined. That was my read on the situation. The pipeline was nice, but it often felt like that was more exciting stuff than the regular reveals and it reduced excitement when those items were revealed and for the stuff before in the live stream. Plus, we still have yak. he’ll just act as the pipeline from now on. I will add that despite the fact that I think that was the motivation I don’t think it will work. People just seem to be negative no matter what you do.

I love the pipeline, but if they hold back 1 or 2 figures from the pipeline, i don't really care. They would still reveal figures once they have one in hand (so if it came as a reveal, it comes a few months after the pipeline reveal). I really don't understand the uproar. And the pipelines are on the same stream Justin claims: "they aren't fun" that reveals the actual figure. Why are you guys talking about totally getting rid of it? (And Nate actually said, "getting rid of the pipeline is a bad idea" but what Mr Stevie posted was holding some of the pipelines back).

Most customers are adult collectors, so just tell me what you’re selling. Don’t just keep the pipeline, but expand it to include everything as soon as possible. I can see them holding back things like reuse and new accessories like capes to be able to double sell figures (which is a bad practice).

I'm glad they are binning the shit-pipe-line... I can't really muster any enthusiasm for a figure that I won't get for 14 months. If you told me I was getting an Imperial Gunner or Lobot next week, I may piss my pants with a bit of excitement. I haven't been on IG in weeks now, but the "Saviour of Black Series" Mr Stevie, as he was presented initially, seems to have done ruck-all for the 6 inch scale and has been completely preoccupied with the McDonald's toys. I think Hasbro know more than they are letting on, scaling back on revealing future releases does rather speak volumes about a company who are refusing to commit .. I would not be surprised if the Black series is going to run down, sales have been dropping mostly due to the lacklustre Disney+ content. There was a time I would buy everything now I cherry pick .. boring character choices, price hikes and chopping and changing the packaging designs have all contributed to me spending less. I am sure I am not alone here, if Hasbro don't promise a future release then there is no comeback when the company decide to pull the plug on the line. my opinion

Not shocked by this. If Disney keeps shitting out horrible shows and movies like they have nobody cares about the toys. All the acolyte and andor toys failed horribly. I guarantee if Disney stays on this path dividing fans making horrendous shows Hasbro will just stop making shit for Disney Star Wars since there’s already zero interest.
