This AU aside.. In my own headcanon, Tamayo C O U L D be Shinobu and Kanae's long forgotten ancestor, similar to Kokushibo and Muichiro. The fact that they both excel in studying anatomy and biology, especially when it comes to demons alone is enough for me to brain rot and now I can't unthink it. if tamayo was shinobu's mother then: a) tamayo would've never been a demon ( = no present time kanae or shinobu) b) shinobu would be killed by tamayo when she got turned into a demon. c) kanae kills tamayo after turning into a demon (like sanemi backstory). kanae, shinobu and tamayo wouldn't be relevant to the hashira because they'd die hundreds of years before the present ones and tamayo wouldn't be a demon doctor. this results in the ending not even existing all the hashira would've died to the uppermoons/muzan. and shinobu wouldve been born hundreds of years before any of the hashira.
