It is a small moment, but I enjoyed the subversion when Giyuu is getting up to leave and Sanemi stops him, and you expect him to say "hold, you insulted me earlier, you're not gonna get away with that scot-free," but in reality the reason was "we're still in the middle of a meeting and we've gotta iron out these details for the plan." He's clearly an abrasive guy, but he's actually pretty cooperative and responsible.

That's right. At first glance, Sanemi appears to be violent and trouble-making, but in reality he is always thinking about his group as a whole and is able to make common sense decisions. Tanjiro had already had this impression of him during the Hashira Meeting in Season 1: "He seemed completely illogical, but suddenly he started speaking intelligently!"

Actually, the conditions of marks had been shown in season 2 when Tanjiro faced Daki. Tanjiro recalled his performance would be better when he caught a fever, so he told himself he must higher his temperature in order to beat Daki. And throughout all season, the mark of Tanjiro getting darker through every fights and rage.

The waterfall bit is part anime trope part actual training in controlling your body, it's derived from a Buddhist meditation technique and is steeped in Japanese lore and legend, the briefest explanation possible is that it is meant to be a cleansing of all parts of you and yep it's meant to be freezing cold and to test your ability to last out under that.

The pressure that you get from water continuously falling on your head is not to be underestimated, let alone from a natural waterfall of decent size. Think about it, there's a torture technique where a victim has water drops continuously dripped on their head, mainly the forehead. Even that slow and small amount of water can result in breaking a person mentally. Now imagine willingly putting yourself in a situation like that but with more water, more pressure on your head and body, the constant loud sound of the waterfall and not the least the cold temperature; not just for a few minutes but hours upon hours. It really does help you learn better body control and mental strengthening.

I am so excited to hear your takes that I'm posting before even watching the video! edit: I've watched now, so here are some comments :) To answer Ben's comment about whether the show is going to end soon and not drag on just for profit, without spoilers, this show has stuck to the manga so well up to now that I can't imagine them adding more or cutting anything out. It's just going to come down to how quickly they want to go through what happens after this training arc. I could see them doing two more seasons or one more longer one. I can't imagine them squeezing the rest of the story into a single 11 episode season, though, because every character both good and bad deserve their screen time. About Anna's comment about being able to watch with multiple generations, you're 100% right. I'm in my 50s and watch with my 24 year old and we both love it!

As a hashira definitely not. Maybe a cool one ofcourse yes. How can you say he is the best hashira after seeing how he acts with others. No matter the reason his actions and attitude are too much for a normal human being to handle. He is definitely a badass character. He would have been a nice hashira though after the final arc but sadly it was dismissed right ? I would say that Giyu, Rengoku or Gyomei are the perfect Hashiras although I like everyone equally though.

Sanemi (Wind Hashira) his fighting style seems to have the same discipline as Netero, doing ten thousand punches in quick amount of time due to training (e.g. infinite slashing). Obanai (Serpent Hashira) I feel like his wrist movement and footwork has to compliment his sword, compared to Mitsuri who uses her superhuman strength and dancing momentum to create intricate techniques for Love Breathing.

I have a feeling the marked individuals will become demons. The stone Hashira is the strongest, so he'd assume the responsibility of dispatching them when they turn, but that would also leave him the last and rampaging. That's why I believe he said something along the lines of "what would become of me?" Rememeber the six-eyed demon who suspiciously looked like the First Breath master? That's my theory at least.

Bro focus on voice actor rather than their appearence and clothes... Uppermoon 1 same voice as Byakuya from Bleach. And That read Haori Guy has same voice actor as kakashi from Naruto. So obviously there are different..... Plus it is also shown that gyutaro was debt collector in red light district but still he become a demon by douma help and lated climb to uppermoon rank.... And there is extra info regarding gyokko and hantengu. ☆Hantengu was a thief and ☆ Gyokko was a fisherman.. So your theory is wrong and anyone can debunk it if they have paid attention the anime itself only.

@@pjimz8283 if "too many" people have the same "mistake" it must be for a reason, right? i agree that it was strange for ppl to think Yoriichi was Tanjirō's dad for the simple reason that they lived in completely different time periods, with hundreds of years of difference. but i don't have problems with ppl still believing that Yoriichi is somehow related to Tanjirō and theorizing about that. imo that stuff in the manga, especially the scene with Sumiyoshi, was confusing on purpose, or at least unintentionally. i can't talk for anyone else, but i usually like try to "disconnect my brain" when i read/watch stuff to not make theories in my head that turn out to be true because i don't want to "not be surprised" and i want the author to take me into that journey, not me speedrunning through it. and as i was reading the manga i also thought Yoriichi was somehow related to Tanjirō and that Yoriichi was somehow UM1 because i didn't have all the info and i was not thinking about it too much, so i was super surprised and happy and excited when i read Yoriichi's flashback later in the manga and all was revealed. so i really don't get why manga readers with the power of hindsight, theorizing years _before_ anime onlies, have to ruin ppl experience with the anime. like, manga readers didn't even had voices in the manga to differentiate characters, so them focusing on that is _only_ because they _now_ have it, because they have hindsight and know what they're talking about, so they make these "it's soooo obvious" comments when no, dude, it was not obvious. some ppl can't even tell differences between VA voices or identify them, so why ruin that surprise for them? why do some manga readers are the most obnoxious of ppl that have like this "i know more than you" superiority complex when they probably read the source material without somebody else spoiling it for them? they're like "mansplaining" (mangasplaining? xd) when nobody asked. like, no one cares, you're not special because you read something that thousands of ppl read too. i really don't get it. i love manga readers that discuss future stuff with other manga readers only, because regarding the anime the only job we have is to just learn to shvt up. is that simple.

Probly an unpopular opinion, but I want a full training arc, minimal fighting. For me, this show is a lot of fighting, and extremely minimal on plot and story and meaningful character interactions. So this episode was a solid start for me, the scene of all the hashira chatting and going over things, yes, more of that. Kagayas saying thank you to his wife, just anything like that. We've had 0 detail or development with Nezuko other than just watching her seemingly change for no clear reason no clues no nothing. We are finally getting something with Tanjiro to explain what's been going on with him, but the details don't feel satisfying because there are sooo many gaps and I'm not sure any of these things will be addressed. Amane tells hashira about the mark, but how does she know about it, when did she know about it? Did Kagaya know the second he first saw him, if so why did he just let him risk fully venture out. If he didn't know at the time, why does he know now, and the thing is he seems quite versed in the history of things, I don't get why he wouldn't know the first time he saw Tanjiro. Even the mark resonating with others, why has that only just started happening given the conditions for it to resonate seems to have been there much earlier on. I also want the show to make me care about Zenitsu and Inosuke. Every second they're on screen is comedic which I don't care for but I can put up with it, but can we please get something else with these characters, if they died, I wouldn't care, but if any of the Hashira died, I would and think they are deffo highlight chars in the show. Tanjiro has a nice moment with Zenitsu saying about how he used what Zenitsu taught him and I was like come on show me some character development that he's has in the background of his own missions or something, let him tell Tanjiro about a story that happened when he was nearly dying according to him when he was away (but he fought on so ppl wouldn't miss him jokily) like anything man. Completely uninterested in them ATM and the only interesting things we got about them was little revisits to some of their past. I get that their personalities and comedy is why many ppl love this show but for me, in terms of character development or who they are, like who is Zenitsu why does he actually act how he does, what does he really think about things, what is his motive driving him forward, what's his agenda what dows he want to Tanjiro what does he seriously think about Nezuko etc etc the list goes on but theres just nothing with these chars for me. He's an idiot demon slayer who chats a lot of waffle and loves Nezuko and that's it, I wouldn't mind if they were proper side characters but they ain't they're main cast

If you wanna know who are the top 3 strongest hashira there is the list(without spoiler, open it on your own risk however it doesn't contain any spoiler). 3: Giyu Tomioka ( Water Hashira ) or Obanai Iguro ( Serpent Hashira ) these two are always debatable. 2: Sanemi Shinazugawa ( Wind Hashira Undebatable ). 1: Gyomei Himejima ( Stone Hashira Undebatable ).

There are a couple outliers, like Gyomei being the strongest, and Shinobu/Muichiro being on the weaker end (Marks notwithstanding obviously, since they're basically a Super Saiyan power-up). But in general, all of the fanbooks, feats and comparisons put all of the Hashira on a similar playing field with specific strengths and weaknesses. Sanemi could very well be #2, especially since he improved during the Kokushibo fight instead of got weaker. But I'd put Giyu, Mitsuri, Obani and Sanemi as equals. Mitsuri was equal to (or stronger than, and only got worn down because of stamina issues which all humans have) Hantengu, who's Upper 4. Meanwhile, Giyu was struggling against Upper 3, only doing decently well when working with Tanjiro (and we know that teamwork in Demon Slayer is a gigantic boost). Sanemi generally scales to Giyu, he fought Kokushibo and went down quickly in the 1v1, but survived longer than Muichiro did because he has more experience in fighting opponents stronger than himself, like he says (which is doubly true considering his backstory before the Corps). Obani is the odd man out. Obani's only feats are from the Muzan fight. While that's impressive no-doubt, Obani was the only character at this point to not get a backstory and arc. Every other Hashira had gotten a major fight. Obani still had to meet the quota of "Do badass thing, get backstory, save Tanjiro, and overwhelm an enemy" that everyone else got, and that was the last point to do it. So I think his feats are a bit overstated. Mitsuri got taken out in that same fight early since she had her arc way earlier (and she was hit with a new attack that nobody else noticed beforehand). All of this is a bunch of rambling to say, I don't think the Hashira can be compared in that manner. Hell, if we take away the Marks and the boost from the Hashira Training, and just go with all of them during their introductions, I'd say Rengoku=Sanemi=Giyu=Mitsuri=Obani=Tengen.

​@@logancairns7043 [spoilers ahead] i agree with the first part of your comment, that the point is that the Hashira are all great at different things and all of them have different abilities, there's no way and no point in comparing them really. the only thing we know for sure is that Gyōmei is the strongest (physically at least, because you can go further and even say: but how do you measure strenght? is it only "physical strenght"? if it is, then yeah, Himejima is definitely the strongest. or do you consider others factors? what do you consider and what not? to me is like measuring "intelligence", it's extremely subjective and you have different kinds, an IQ test just won't cut it). i dunno why but i've noticed _a lot_ of DS fans are obsessed with powerscaling, when there's no need to, because, again, all Hashira are different and have strenghts and weaknesses that meant to complement each other and make for interesting and cool fights against especific "compatible" Upper Moons. and these fans come up with the most bizarre and random opinions supporting their favs and present it as "fact". it's really weird. like, i personally love Sanemi, but i wouldn't even say that he's "the second strongest Hashira" so categorically, even if there's "proof". and like, i'm not against theorizing powerscaling, but it's a different thing to take it as fact, because to me at least it's all in the realm of fanfiction.

Prediction. . . . . . . . my biggest prediction going into this arc: Someone is going to have the mindset of "If Muzan needs Nezuko then I'll just cut out the middle man" and Behead Nezuko when her guard is down only for everyone to realize that she is now immune to Nichirin Swords because of how they work (That one person will then be ejected from the demon slayer corp or severly punished) but this will add extra pressure to the need for keeping Nezuko away from Muzan because then we have an immortal Muzan as a result
