Pace has absolutely no relevance what so ever in this game (at least for me, on Xbox series S) I can be through on goal with fast paced striker, and the game will literally not let me run full speed until the defender ( regardless of their speed) gets within close proximity. Same with running down the flanks, doesn't matter who you have, the game will hold you up until an opposing player catches up to a required proximity

It's better for me. I can try a lot of players, they were not playable in previous fifa parts. It looks more to football when pace is irrelevant. Also there some players who are significantly faster then other players, like u saw in this Clip.

I swear, why do people assume that this year pace is all that matters? Have I missed the patch which made teams actually reflect the speed stat? Cause I had have 92+ pace card easily caught up by defenders with 65-71 pace. Easily. I now play with slower cards in midfield and it's not that bad (got my first ICON and it was Riquelme Thunderstruck version). Positioning matters a lot more than anything else. Oh and defensive AI is still busted, so getting past defenders in normal way and scoring from inside box is actually hard if a person knows what he is doing in defense that is.

Look at prime example: track stars Chawinga. 96 pace, regardless of any other stat, she should be absolutely fine running through. But nope she is consistently caught up to by the likes of Bobby Moore. Pace is the most worthless stat ever this year. Pointless.

You see, whether player will be fast in game is decided by few things including body type, height, acceleration type, acceleration to sprint speed ratio and running animation. That’s why 85 pace player can be faster than 95 pace player in game. It’s just reality. However if u take two exactly conditioned players who meets same criteria the one with higher pace will always be faster.
