Recursion is also a way to hold state (being passed as a function argument). If you think about it, the factorial function acutally demonstrates that.

You won't get stack overflow with factorial whatever the number you put in because of tail recursion

You're absolutely right 👍. I haven't explained Tail Call Optimization in this course - but yeah, this is a very important concept. Thanks for pointing it out. For those who are interested I might deep dive into this topic in future videos.

The reason you're getting 0 with factorials with big numbers is because you're using Int rather than Integer. Also print $ factorial 50 would look more idiomatic.
