It's not the diversity of ethnicity that is the problem It's the way the company treats it now. Aladin was awesome because he was a "diamond in the rough" no one thought he was worth anything because he lived on the streets and had no parents. But he had the heart to prove them all wrong. THAT is how he was marketed as well. You didn't even notice his ethnicity because it wasn't the main part. Today, a large part of how he would be marketed would be about what color he is and then that would be followed by telling everyone that they are racists if they don't want to see it. Also, monkey would be gay/ trans.

The term “woke” is from the Black civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s. The term was meant as a reminder to Black people to stay aware of the systemic efforts to prevent them from exercising their rights as Americans. It was co-opted and bastardized recently by liberals to define adherence to their standard of diversity and inclusion and now by conservatives as a pejorative term to describe liberal philosophy. It was never intended to represent what it does today. As for Disney, like many other institutions, they’ve been pressured by a small constituency with a lot of political clout. If people who want Disney to get their heads right would stop looking for an enemy to go to war with and address the problem like grownups, the incentive for Disney to drive the current political agenda would fade away.

In todays entertainment, the story has taken a backseat. Main focus is on the color of the characters and their sexual orientation. Lion King worked because of a great story. Aladdin worked because of a great story. They told stories that are universally relatable. Today's Disney isn't innovative. They are lazy and fixated on the wrong things.
