I have the Hasselblad mod, and I get much higher quality photos from it than you've shown here. I'd be glad to share these pictures with you. I honestly don't think you're giving the camera enough of a chance. Of course, I always use the manual pro function, so those photos are going to always be higher quality than the auto mode. If you are a professional photographer, or you at least know how to use the pro settings, I highly recommend this mod.

Got excited at the beginning of this video with this concept's potential, however it's very disappointing to see what Hasselblad have ended up with! I think the moto mods are a brilliant idea, and this design is perfect for it, but a massive shame to see Hasselblad of all companies make a poor product. Marques was right about optical zoom not being such a desired feature, I think Hasselblad could use this design for something much better. This is what I'd like to see; - Change the lens for a large aperture prime lens, maybe similar to Canon's 40mm 2.8, as it's a very similar size. - Put in a large sensor, maybe super35/aps-c so people can get nice shallow depth of field and good low light shots. - Make the sensor amazing, as that is what Hasselblad is so famous for, this should be something that takes FAR superior shots to the phone's camera - It wouldn't bother me it it was thicker if that's what it takes to make it better, would make for a better, deeper grip Curious to see whether people agree, Optical Zoom or Large Aperture?

As you said, this is a great proof of concept. Just imagine having the best parts of a DSLR or a point and shoot mixed with the best parts of a smartphone. Awesome camera, camera settings, awesome OS and instant shareability.

Tom Watson Yeah, it definitely has potential, but Hasselblad is supposed to be about great quality premium cameras but this is half-assed garbage with their brand on it, and that Hasselblad Lunar camera which is literally just a Sony NEX-7 with a different grip. I like Hasselblad but this sort of stuff needs to stop, I lost some respect for Leica when they put their brand on that Huawei phone. It's just meaninglessly putting their brands on things.

Best review I've seen of this mod, and you're absolutely spot on about respecting it for what it is, a proof of concept. I'll bet Sony or Canon could have done a much better job at the $250 price point, Hasselblad just isn't used to doing anything for less than $15,000

an APS-C mirrorless sensor can work, but what about the lens? How THICK do you think is acceptable? I don't know if it's possible to make a body less than 1 inch thick for an APS-C sensor. Currently, as far as Im aware, they're all more than 1 inch thick.

For phones, the 808 PureView was about as much as I think is good. The sensor was fairly large and the high megapixel count offered a lot of flexibility.
