You are correct about the guides on the rod Matt - they will take both fx and multi reels. What a great way to showcase Hastings especially the two museums you showed us. I am a regular visitor to both as well but then like you, I live here. Get down here people, I would be happy to give anyone some idea of where to fish in the area

Was at Hastings a few weeks back to reminisce with my wife. We spent the night fishing from the back of our car, she was 19 and I was 21, could park right up to the edge of the sea far left from the boats did not have to pay for parking then, that was 37 years ago. Still love fishing. Love your videos Matt, keep at it, all the best.

One of the first channels I subscribed to when I started my fishing journey four years ago and still search out vids on the channel. I fish St Leonard’s but not Hastings due to the parking fees. It’s like the council don’t want visitors, Pevensey free over winter and Eastbourne cheaper. Keep it up fella Tight lines

I was on holiday in Hastings in 2017 and loved the location. I went to the local fishing shop and asked about sea fishing since I really wanted to have a go. I was given Brian Pask's contact and I had two lessons with Brian. Thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted to start sea fishing. Now this year I have finally started to fish around my local cost in Norfolk. I plan on returning to Hastings next year to fish. I enjoy watching your videos and I have learnt so much from them which has given me the confidence to sea fish.

Wanted to fish Hastings ever since I started watching your channel, hopefully looking to get my first session in down there in the coming spring. Also as far as the rig question, I have recently started tying my own rigs, and while I find it is greatly rewarding when you catch on one, I’ve gained a new appreciation for the luxury of just opening a packet and the rig being fresh and ready to go! 😅

Nice to see a new video Matt, definitely one of the best channels explaining how to use tackle etc, I've asked Santa for the Akios stand as well looks like the wife has delivered it as she's planked it in the worst place possible, right next the coat hook in the cupboard! Will replace my NGT oceanic tripod which I bought last year and just don't get on with it. I'd not worry about the matches, started fishing last July, done my first match in Dec and now in a winter shore league, don't catch much but it's good being out in the fresh air and learning off guys who've been fishing for years and would recommend people to try it as have found the guys really friendly, two matches this week, one on Thursday night at Saltcoats beach & same venue on Sat. Tight lines and hopefully catch more than seaweed (which is normally what I catch these days)

Thanks Ben. The difference between the under 10s and those seine net factory ships is vast as you know. I appreciate you are an authority in this and its evident anglers share many common concerns with these smaller boats. I think seeing the doggy swim off strong makes it worth handling them well. Not sure the whiting fair so well unfortunately.
@theamputeeanglerКүн бұрын
@ Speaking and learning from some prominent Bass friends I think you would be surprised how many of those whiting are eaten by a Bass before you have even cast your rod back out in places. Especially at night! Stay lucky mate.

I love your vlogs. They're so relaxing and informative and your appreciation for all that is around you is wonderful, it warms my heart. As a young girl, I loved fishing. Going out with my Dad in his little skiff handlining or with my rod off the beach. For one reason or another.. mostly work I guess, and then ailments it became a thing if the past. Until recently. Now in my mid 50's I have absolutely fallen head over heels with beach casting again. I can't wait wait to get down the beach when the weather allows, it's so good for the soul. Of course I also have the added bonus of KZbin vlogs now 😊 So far neck and back are holding up so long as I take advantage of hot and cold packs. Still takes a while to recover though...lol. I've been looking to replace my 35 year old rods, with something a bit longer than 12 ft and lighter to hopefully enable me to cast a little further with my adapted (for neck...not optimum) technique. Finding the right rod is a bit tricky, but I'll keep an eye out for that Tronix Pro and have a closer look, the length is a bit longer and lightweight sounds good. I did think about ordering the Kenzaki you reviewed a while back, but not sure. I buy and make my rigs. Nothing too complicated, but good enough for bass, flatties, rays and of course whiting..lol. I've not had a cod yet this year though. Looking to have a little go on the south coast next year hopefully. Thanks for another great vlog and rod review. Look forward to next.

Hi Mat, thanks for posting what turned out to be a enjoyable and very informative video. Good to see you on the fish which is a decent reward as opposed to the ransom of those parking charges, especially during winter months. Regarding the rigs, I am a maker. I think it ads a little something to your fishing session especially if you catch on it, also if you are making them on the times you can’t get out it builds the anticipation for the next trip out. The rod looks a ideal bit of kit, sometimes it’s nice to fish with lighter gear for a change I think, not all fishing is with Cod sticks and Donkey choker baits. Until next time I’ll wish you all the very best for Christmas and the new year. Tight lines, Steve.

HI Matt, I'd love to spend a day or two fishing down Hastings way, unfortunately I'm 350 miles away in north of County Durham and my disability prohibits me from getting comfortable on long journeys. I'm lucky to have family just to the west in Upper Beeding, Polegate and Hailsham, if they are still alive and in the area, so I could wangle a settee or a floor to kip on for a night or two. Keep up the fishing and videos, always a pleasure to watch. I'm a rig maker, it's good exercise for keeping the hands moving and working, it's a carry on from the days I made my own fishing flies and leaders when I was a kid and had no money, I'm almost 64 and still go no money! 😁

I live in Hastings, St Leonards. I watch your vids all the time, unable to comment on my own account. It’s nice to see you with a rod with a slim butt. I bet she handles fantastic, all the best. Steve with a PH, keep on catching, keep on fishing.

Great video, haven't been to Hastings since I was a kid but might now head down with my son and see if we can catch anything.
