a much earlier version of this prompted someone to say 'you sure are a cheap bastard with more time on your hands than money' which i thought was a fair comment

@@davidvwilliamson I think it could be a lot more educational than it is - it needs description of what you're doing, and more information. You don't say what a planimeter is, or does,or how it works. You don't give the length of it, or the distance between pencil marks. I see the pencil marks form a rule(r), but I think that is far from obvious. You don't give the scale of the map - which isn't 1:100, as your maths suggests. All that said - it worked really well.

@@hermitoldguy6312 This is good content that teachers could use as a resource to support their curriculum. Not everyone is an educator, but apparently everyone could make a planimeter with household objects.
