A documentary on the greatest Disney cartoon character, Donald Duck. From his humble beginnings in Silly Symphonies to his epic WW2 shorts, we celebrate the career of everybody's favorite Duck as he approaches his 90th Birthday.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that loves Donald!! At first, I didn't know specifically why, but with this "Duckumentary" (Clever name, by the way!) I figured out why! He's so relatable!!

I totally was not listening to this while baking at midnight because I know I’m going to be too hungry in the morning to cook anything. But seriously I binged watched all your videos today and yesterday and you are incredibly underrated. Your videos are incredibly well written with the historical knowledge, comedy, and structure coming together to make a lovely script. I learned a lot about Donald today and while he’s not my favorite Disney character, I appreciate him a lot more now. Amazing work and I can’t wait to see what you make next :)

I just discovered your channel today, starting with the Chicken Little video, followed by the duckumentary. I especially enjoyed your well-placed digs at modern Disney apologizing for classic works. You might enjoy my favorite line from A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and Memory, a very smart and highly readable book by Randy Roberts and James Olson: “Though it is difficult imagining Mickey Mouse getting Adolf Hitler in the crosshairs of a rifle and pulling the trigger, it takes no great leap to envision Donald taking the shot.”

In the September 30, 1933 issue of Film Pictorial magazine, Walt Disney said: “In private life, Mickey is married to Minnie. A lot of people have written to him asking this question, because sometimes he appears to be married to her in his films and other times still courting her. What it really amounts to is that Minnie is, for screen purposes, his leading lady. If the story calls for a romantic courtship, then Minnie is the girl; but when the story requires a married couple, then they appear as man and wife. In the studio we have decided that they are married already.” And in the greater Disney canon, all the toons are actors working for him, and it's basically set up like Roger Rabbit. Actually, they're literally the ones who made that movie (the book had completely different rules/worldbuilding) so that makes sense. Anyhow, I'd say it's safe to assume that Michael and Minerva Mouse, the actors had at _least_ 21 children, as that's how many can be seen on screen at once in Mickey's Nightmare (August 8, 1932). "But that was just a dream sequence!" Yes, the _kayfabe_ is that it was all a dream, they still had to film it. Then it did well, and their children got the in universe explanation of "orphans" _just_ orphans, don't question it. So they got to appear several more times, such as in: Giantland '33, Gulliver Mickey '34, Orphan's Benefit '34, Orphans' Picnic '36, Mickey's Circus '36, and by Pluto's Party '52 they're kids rather than toddlers, possibly 10ish? Since that's what Huey, Dewey, and Louie are supposed to be. Then, who knows? I guess they left showbiz? Well, I think they had a run-by in Roger Rabbit, but that takes place in 1947, before Pluto's Party. The orphans are not to be confused with Morty and Ferdie (Mickey's sister, Felicity Fieldmouse's kids), or Millie and Melody Mouse (Minnie's nieces).

Comic Mickey is something else. I read those, but I cannot remember the artists, and he's usually portrayed as detective, adrenaline junkie, adventurer, time traveler. I think those are European comics?
