You could feel it in your bones that Michigan was going to turn blue. It has its pockets of right wing militias and extremists, but most of the state is just working class folk who value civil liberties and aren't afraid of ethnic diversity. They could see the writing on the wall from the Republican politicians who didn't have a single popular policy to offer, who constantly labored to divide people with culture war bullshit. Most of Michigan saw through it and sent them packing, which will now restore bodily autonomy and reproductive choice for Michigan's women, as well as tax relief for seniors and working class families. Basically, stuff that matters. Rather than banning books or arguing over which M&M Tucker Carlson wanted to fuck before it became 'woke.'

I wish they played that whole speech. It got even better. Those outside of Michigan may not know, but McMorrow was INSTRUMENTAL in helping to organize and lead the Michigan Democrats state-wide in taking back the state, resulting in that blue trifecta. She is not only a powerhouse speaker, she's also a powerhouse Democratic organizer and leader. We need McMorrow in a national leadership role in the party. She has both the fire and the leadership and organizing skills to help REPEAT in other states what she helped do in Michigan.

We will see if this ends up as another case of left-wing extremism. I am all for showing everybody love and respect, but in many Democratically run states politicians enable people to do wrong things. It all comes down to mutual respect. No hate here, but I expect a lot out of this Michigan Senator. Abortion is a difficult issue to deal with, if one values human life. It isn’t just about religion. Sex and gender identity are minefield issues which can have serious consequences for all involved. Energy and environmental issues are complex matters that can leave many out of work, restrict the movement of goods and services, and result in electric reliability issues. I have very little trust in either political party right now. I am not going to attack this Senator because this Independent struggles with these same issues. Can I still love and respect people while disagreeing with on some matters? Is banning abortions really the right way to teach human value? Is attacking large employers, and restricting small businesses, only costing people their jobs and their dignity? I can go on and on. What lines need to be drawn to protect people’s dignity and being? Sexuality is a very intimate and personal matter. Are we setting up one another for a lot of pain, suffering, mental anguish, and hatred? It is our strongest emotion, and it can cause considerable harm. Look at rape and the false accusation of rape! I know too many women who have been used, abused, and and abandoned by men. But does teaching hatred towards men make them more responsible?
