They’re cool cars. Don’t get why the internet turned on RWB.

Once folks on the Internet got to see the poor quality of his builds up close, the illusion of RWB was shattered for most car building enthusiasts. What he does is overpriced modern art with cars, so rich posers can can feel like their $100k Porsche is rough track missile from the 80s, which it isn't. Nakai has made his business "the rough aesthetic", but he could easily increase the quality and durability of his builds whilst maintaining the backyard-build aesthetic, which he should for the price he's asking. Simple changes like tig welding the inner and outer panel skins, rust-proofing the panel cuts, installing sealed stainless rivnuts on the body and using 2k paint for touchups and panel sealing. Compare any RWB to a proper high-dollar widebody build using steel panels rolled on an English wheel and it's hard to be impressed by RWB.

It was because someone had a tow hook spec'd in their build and they put the car on air, the air tank was in the way of the mount for the tow hook so they asked Nakai if they could just temporarily glue the tow hook on for the photoshoot of the build. People saw photos of Nakai gluing the tow hook on and assumed this is how he builds his cars but he was just doing it as a temporary placeholder piece for a photo.

Great video Marcus! This is better than a Top Gear episode, no joke! I think Nakai-san's work is great. I'm an RWB fan. His treatment does work on the newer models but personally I feel like the 930, 964 and up to the 993 is where it's at.

The only problem I see with that car is the fact that it's not a manual . Otherwise it's downright beautiful and more than likely handles beautifully too .

That's something that a lot of people who are ripping on RWB don't consider. They have a lot of tire, which subsequently gives them a ton of grip. You can't get that tire width with the stock body. Most of these naysayers are picturing these as to what they would be like to take to the grocery store and not their spirited driving potential.

Nakai is still building air cooled. I have 3 friends that did 993’s in the last year. 997’s are just more affordable. It’s why you are seeing more 997 builds.

Funny how people have opinions on other people’s cars. If you don’t like them, don’t buy one! Your opinion of a car you don’t own or pay for is worthless.

A lot of discussion about paint and video footage of fender flares. Not much about the performance mods that (should) dictate the changes. How is the track performance vs. the stock 997?

@prashanthp544818 күн бұрын
Totally agree. Somehow the RWB kit seems to visually ‘soften’ the 997 platform rather than make it more aggressive as it did for the older cars

Do the math ... 7 cars a month x 30k per kit... he racking in 210k cash a month 12 x 210k = 2.5 mil a year .. if you made that much would you care what people think ?
