@@atheisticfront you're obviously right, looking at the folks digging it. Might just be my age.. I was going to shows the first time around when this stuff came up. There's def been bands who do this, just almost always irritated me.

The world definitely has all kinds of people and opinions. In my mind, everyone joining in, singing along, and having a good time is the least pretentious thing I can think of. A pretentious show to me is some kind of concert where everyone has to wear a suit and stay perfectly silent the whole time, out of respect for the god-like performers who everyone thinks understand music better than them. This comment totally blew my mind. Super curious, what does the word pretentious mean to you?

@@rbsz6202 pretentious, in the way I was using it in this context, was the appearance of an affectation. A manufactured distance. I certainly didn't say the people there weren't having a good time. Obviously they were. Or that the band was "bad" in any way. It seems like a good time. I'm an almost Gen x hardcore kid. I'm certainly no stranger to sing alongs and pile ons. The performance made me roll my eyes, that's all. Again, glad that people are into them
