From the look of the lug, I think the snare is TAMA Metalworks 14"x5.5"(ST1455BN) with custom die cast hoop. Can't be sure though.

I think I saw Madball in like 1994 at CBGB's. I think they were the first band to play. It was a Sunday afternoon show. I was really intoxicated too.

I’m pretty sure it’s the live sound mix. When he moves the snare between songs, you can hear it. He might be blending it with the video sound though, because I’m not sure how else you would hear the crowd/cymbals/vox/guitars. There must be some sort of a room mic.

With Madball I can always feel the bass but it's very difficult to make out the notation . In my humble opinion Hoya needs a little more treble in his mix for clarity .
