I had friend badly addicted to drugs and only listened to rap and despised hardcore/metal. When he would ride in my car I would play the perseverance album often. He never said a word about it and I thought he probably was just blocking out the music. One day I get into his car and to my shock he’s playing the perseverance album. He proceeds to tell me he’s been actually listening to the lyrics and it’s motivated him to quit drugs. He did. Shit was wild. Truly a special fucking album.

That's an amazing fuckin story! Music is the most powerful drug we have. Please tell your friend I'm fuckin proud of him that he took his life back. July 19 2024 will be my 7 year anniversary. It's a hard thing to do. Growing up, I thought musicians hooked on drug's were spineless losers who couldn't get their shit together. I learned the hard way that's not the case and that trip from drug free to full blown addict is short and extremely slippery! Please encourage your friends to not mss with drugs. There is nothing romantic about them, like some music would have you believe. Head up, headstrong, headed in your right direction!!!

I remember the first time hearing hatebreed on college metal radio. I thought I was listening to the new sepultura. It was the satisfaction era. My favorite I was blown away how modern and extreme it was. I was a hungry metal head looking for new extreme bands to listen to. And then years later I would meet Jamey in person. A true hardcore hero in person. He was amazing person. He had been doing the revitalized head bangers ball. Love Ricki Rachtman but Jamey was more than a worthy successor. Metal head here but I love hardcore much love and respect for the scene always. A metal head from the hood. But I also relate to hardcore because it’s more street level than metal. But it’s all good love metal and hardcore. ❤🤘🏼🤘🏼
