Hatfield & McCoy Trails II Williamson to Matewan II Buffalo Mountain

This is day 2 of our 2022 adventure to beautiful West Virginia to ride the Hatfield & McCoy Trails. This time around we stayed in Williamson and were able to see a whole new set of new (to us) trails!
We head out from our AirBnB on a journey to historic Matewan, WV with our Honda Talon 1000R, Polaris RZR 900S, along with a group of good friends who were riding a Polaris RZR XP Turbo, a Polaris Ranger XP Highlifter Edition, and another Ranger XP.
The Journey was well worth it, we had a lot of fun, and after a few years of ownership, I finally managed to get the Talon to lay down and take a nap!

How long did it take to get to matewan from williamson?

We were just cruising and taking it easy, but it was a few hours if I remember correctly.

Did they change the rules about helmets on HMT??

No, helmets are still required. We made sure we had them with us, just took them off a few times. I’m not saying it’s right, that’s just what we did.

Still definitively a rule. West Virginia is pretty laid back in my experience. It’s pretty much the golden rule of don’t act like an absolute a hole and you’re good to go. I appreciate that. I do always try to follow local rules and regulations no matter where we ride, just out of respect more than anything.
