There'll never be another series like this one. Kevin Costner, Tom Berenger, and the late Powers Booth and Bill Paxton really lit up the screen here.

I agree. Costner's been in many romantic nature series and movies. Dances with wolves. Even tin cup . Hatfield's and McCoy's. Bill Paxton as well. Twister, Titanic Apollo 13. But what takes the cake is Tom Berengers portrayal of Uncle Jim Vance. Personally my favorite character ever. I associate the character with so many family members that grew up in the Appalachia mountains. The grit, he doesn't go easy versus frank Phillips even laying down. the moxy, how he saves caps life by having him act like nature calls, the loyalty which needs no example I'm general, even apologizing to his dog before his own death. A true Hatfield by nature A cornerstone of the family. After cap brings the news of his death,u can see each character grasping in vein at the thought of his impossible but necessary existence.

Of all the characters, I related to Johnse the most. He was an old soul who just wanted to be loved & happy. ❤

Except he impregnated and discarded an innocent virginal girl, breaking her heart and her spirit in the process. And irl/outside of the show, he was a violent drunk who cheated on Roseanna and gave her VD as well as abandoning her. Awful man.

@@pendafen7405But of the _characters,_ he was one of the best, right?

@@Spearca sure, if you're looking at it from the perspective of 'which person had the most interesting emotional story and caused the most drama', I could buy that.

Possibly the best scene in the whole damn series! Given everything that was going on around them devil Anse really needed to be reminded who his family was and was important

Vicey was the unsung hero and saint of this story. That poor woman endured so much and stayed so upright and strong, when everyone else around her was losing their heads and crumbling. Seeing her go to embrace Johnse--her firstborn baby--as we realise she advocated for the sparing of his life is really moving.

Great series but it portrait Jonese to be an innocent guy when history stories say he was one of the Hatfields most violent members and partook in all the violent actions and he was the one who bashed in the McCoy woman head with the rifle.
