Rarely comment but I love you guys and really want you to enjoy this game, you're one of only two channels I check daily. I know this game pretty well so here's my tips, some are pretty simple. Hope people can upvote so they see this. 1. You can throw turds. This doesn't help whatsoever because why would you want to ruin your turd collection. Keep it in mind though. 2. Your ramp made it too easy for the zombies, make it blocks so they have to jump up every one, slows them down and gives you more time to shoot. 3. Heat Map. Many things attract zombies to an area. Worst offenders are firing guns, explosives (Trott's lickle face when Smiffy blew up his bridge!) but forges are bad too. Endless screamers will fuck your day up. Best thing you can do is build a main base and a horde night base. Doesn't haven't to be too far away but if you're having trouble on day 12 from fighting in your main base imagine the following horde nights. 3. Ammo. If you're going to survive you need to save your ammo until you can craft shitloads of it. Learn to bait the zombies - move close enough that they swing while you back out of reach, quickly step in and strike, move backwards, repeat. Once you get this down you'll get hit a LOT less. Ammo should be used for horde night or "oh shit" situations. 4. Location. Building on dirt is a bad idea. The zombies don't just see the walls on that particular "level", they're "sensing" the soft dirt just underneath your walls, that's why they're not being funneled to your ramp. Because they all seemed to be fucking civil engineers in their past lives. If you have a concrete floor they will much rather run up your ramp than go through a concrete wall and/or floor. 5. Use the mechanics to your advantage. Trott's base is a sound idea with the walkways (shooting galleries) on the sides, I always like seeing his creativity in building games. Trott if you read this search '7 Days To Die - Cabin In The Woods EP21 (Horde Every Night)' and watch from about 20:12 onwards, I know you'll get some inspiration from it. You'll see how he uses wall after wall of defense, he actually stops repairing them so people can see what happens when they break through. This is a great example of the size your horde base should be, big enough to fight the fuckers even when you're flinging molotovs (not dynamite Smiffy) but small enough to maintain. 6. Spikes and ditches. Waste of time, resources and stamina, you'd be better off with a wall. The barbed wire slows them down though which is really fucking handy sometimes. 7. You probably need to loot more. If you head into a town or city as a team who knows what you'll find. If you see any pallets of blue packs (you'll see them in construction sites) just dig them with a shovel as well, they look shit but it's cobblestone rocks for you Trott. 8. Use your traders more, pick up jobs from them. If someone could spec into trader skills and be the only person who sells and buys from the trader you can get more bang for your buck, unlock their secret stashes - you'll essentially arm the entire team. 9. You need to light up your base (and especially your horde base). It's genuinely brilliant to watch you all panicking fighting zombies in the dark but just stick some light down, it'll make the nights more bearable. 10. Vultures, spider zombies and dogs. Yeah they're a fucking nightmare. Once you've got your melee technique down against slow zombies you'll learn to switch to your gun and just unload on these little bastards. That's all I've got for you guys, hope you read it but good luck on the next run!

All the campfires, gunfire, & auger use around their base is causing screamers to spawn which will summon a horde if they spot a player and scream. Also Trott needs to build a roof, vultures are a constant and only get worse with the spitting variant.

Screamers need to be primary target #1 at all times. Learn their looks, their sounds, their screams. If you allow yourself to be distracted by the chaff and allow the Screamer to keep screaming you will, as you've experienced here, encounter a nearly endless stream of zombies attacking you. Shoot them in the freaking head first, then clear the rest.

Part of me was a bit frustrated that all that work and effort boiled down to Smiffy throwing some dynamite and ruining everything before the 14th day but honestly, the chaos afterwards mimicked the 14th day anyway and it was pretty funny.

We had the same problem in our last playthrough. After a while the host would just use a command to kill all zombies in the area. The fix IMO would be that screamers can't spawn in more screamers because it just never ends

1:25 for the record the lever is the upgrade to the hunting rifle (both are vanilla A20 rifles) and use 7.62 and the Winchester is added with DF and uses .44

The best strategy is to have a seperate base for horde night. Something specifically designed to be hard to get in to. A very easy design is just a concrete cube with flat plates along the walls for windows. Add spikes around and a way to jump over to the roof. And as others have said you need to kill the screamers first. All that wasn’t an issue with spawn rates or mod stuff that was all vanilla. You just need to kill the screamers before they see you and scream. It’s no good melee’ing them since they will already have screamed and called more. A good stealth archer is excellent for that.

Honestly, if they just killed the screamers early on and as soon as they saw them, this would have been a 2 minute battle (obviously, they weren't aware of that... which probably means that they aren't really ready for the DF mod). Every time a screamer screamed, it spawned a bunch more zombies. The problem is, screamers can spawn more screamers which means zombies will start spawning exponentially. The moment you see/hear a screamer, drop everything and rush to kill it. Otherwise, you will get swarmed and, if your gamestage is high enough, it's a fuck tonne worse than what the boiks had.

The heat map is not a new thing anyone saying it is doesn't know what they're talking about. I can't find the update it was added but I can find reddit posts from 6+ years ago asking people to explain it so it's been in the game at least 6 years. I know this for a fact because it's also in the Xbox version which hasn't been updated in over 5-6 years.

Cause of the many zombies: Screamers. All the noise you've made (dynamite and such). There's no way of "cleansing" that area, after so much noise have been added to the zone/area. Edit: I don't blame the boiks for not getting this whole "heatmap feature" - it's not very obvious - and if they did; the videos wouldn't be nearly as chaotic and fun ;) Despite what others might tell you - this is NOT a new feature. It's been in the game for many years (not sure if it was in from the very first versions - I honestly can't remember - but quickly searching, will net you complaints about it from around 2015..). It's just not as obvious from the start, as it is with Darkness Falls. But it's very much there. Anything you build/removed, adds to the heatmap. The more severe the things you do are; the more "heat" gets added to the area/zone.

I remember seeing a mod a while back, that introduced a buildable structure that could de-escalate zones, so it would eventually not be as hostile. Can't recall the name of it though. But no way of doing it without a mod (the community has been asked for years now).

@@MH-hu5pi Sneak attack 1 hit kill the screamers with rifle/bow/pistol would be the intelligent move but I don't think the boiks even realized there's a screaming variant to begin with. haha.. Also them spamming guns on basic variants when they can use melee F them over real bad as well haha XD! (You can bone shiv 4 hit basic zombies, nomad diff as a level 1 like cheap change in daylight provided you have enough space to juke them) Also multiples campfires/forge/workbenches running add surprisingly fast to the heat.

@@CuriousMoth Hard to say about the mod, but in the main game you just have to run your equipment like forges fires, cement mixers and whatnot less often or not all at once. Heat is not permanently added and will decay over time IDK about how darkness falls handles it.

No, they were dead for a while. They were floundering since day 7, and on day 12 they still had basically no defenses. Even if they werent attacked before 14, that wave was going to wipe them

So I will grant the lads that this version is more difficult… but also holy shit they spent SO much time pissing around getting nothing done. This is in almost stark contrast to one of their previous play throughs where they had a pretty good focus on getting themselves secure. Props to Trott, he was a real trooper in this run. I hope they come back with some more direction and hopefully smithy & sips can actually provide some assistance this time around.

I think almost everyone here watches the boiks for the banter and you’re absolutely right. I don’t think that success has to come at the cost of the banter though - having a slightly more clear idea about what it is they want to achieve might actually create more space for shit talking and banter because they won’t be spending half the time fending off hordes of zombies that could be avoided 😊

Really enjoyed watching, hope you guys get back to 7dtd. I recommend checking out Undead Legacy, it's another overhaul mod that puts more emphasis on loot and gear progression instead of throwing insane mobs at you, it's got cool mechanics too like picking up objects from the world, specialized workstations, being able to repair and use wrecked cars you find on the world.

I feel for trotty he tries so hard to build things and BAM smith just steps in and doesn’t think and ruins it, and runs off when the base gets overloaded. Thinks it’s funny but Trott wants to make a base that actually works as their bases never work in games. He just wants one to work bless him. RUST it didn’t work, and this one didn’t work. Bless.

You must have a moat, there is noway to survive this game without it, funnel them into a kill zone. Build a roof. 1 build a base (big cube or whatever. 2 Make a moat. 3 attach a longass corridor to the base where the zombies go through and in the tunnel make a sluise kind of structure, only one iron door 3 blocks on each side with windows on both sides of the door, in the ”window” put iron bars, and then repeat the thing over and over. They will literally never make it through if you do this i guarantee it will work. If you do it right. Moat, roof, tunnel kill kill kill

May I suggest you all invest your skillpoints in mele categories like "knife guy" and you will end up saving ammo due to 1 shotting zombies. It is a quieter was to dispatch the zombies anyway.

there needs to be a maximum amount of spawns a screamer can create per day. this amount can go up each blood moon. as is it seems super annoying and makes me less interested in playing the game. maybe even just make it a setting in creating a world. like a slider, or toggle. that way people who like the way it is get the base game and people like me can change it. if its already that way, then good. if its not, I stand by what I said.

It’s not at all difficult to deal with if you kill them first. It just isn’t explained very well. This is part of the base game not the mod. You also attract more screamers the more furnaces and loud noises you have concentrated in one place. Also screamers will call more zombies as soon as they see you, so as long as you can get a sneak kill or kill them quickly they don’t do anything.

@@loglog7 all I'm asking for is a slider in a game filled with sliders. why is this one thing the straw that breaks this buggy unfinished game? why can't I have all the other sliders up to make the game harder/easier, but anything to do with screamers is too much to ask for? I looked around and a lot of people have trouble with the screamers. I'm not exaggerating, or whining about how hard the game is, I'm just asking for some customization on a small part of the game. either this, or something that lets me reduce the heat map, so I can be as industrious as I want. the short of it is I want to use the existing sliders to make the blood moon harder, but be left alone to build my base for the other 6 days. that's all. why is that unreasonable? I just want a cap on the spawns.

Running forges/campfires/augers/upgrading to metal walls or doors/shooting guns. Heat draws in Zombies. If a Screamer (the one in white like the lady from The Ring) sees you, she scream, and summons more zombies. Shooting guns (because you have to) draws in more screamers, and you get locked into a death spiral (as you did here) Looking forward to the next run of this!!!!!!

@@darmocat Plus I'm pretty sure the mod they're running ups the zombie spawns so it could be a self - perpetuating problem, having the gunfire and rebuilding spawn more screamers etc.

When I played with the boys, we found that forges and campfires didn't do /too/ much to increase heat. Our forge was indoors, and our campfire was in our courtyard. It's really the dynamite and land mines and such that gets you.

Side note.... Some mods do not work with Darkness Falls. You might want to check into that too. Could be something that is causing some of those errors you guys been getting.

Skills that are good on new start for everyone. Pelter, bow, mining, cooking, farming is worthless im not too familliar with this mod (not at all) but if everyone has a couple of points in the ”pelter” perk you only need hunting, it will sustain you better. Or not i dont know this mod.

damnit, they were just past the early game and starting to discover the better weapons.. the base was close to being effective but not quite there. The trouble is the developers have spent so much time making bases ineffective rather than the game being fun that it takes tactics to the point that you spend more time self preserving than actually playing. the zombie screamers bringing in more and more z's obviously didn't help but the guys would never know that having those fires burning would generate screamers spawning. It's a design flaw that has screwed the lads over. I hope they come back and try again - the game and their playstyle and humour makes great viewing. Plus I would love to see them finally get to end game content in one of their series.
