This episode very much reminded me of a highly similar moment with my friends when playing Shadows Over Camelot, where after a string of games where I was the traitor, I convinced one of the other players that I couldn’t *possibly* be the traitor yet again, and that he should spend his last hit point completing a critical time-sensitive quest while I used The Grail to revive him afterwards. And then ofc didn’t, which led to a major cascade failure of events that won me the game as the traitor yet again. They don’t like playing that game anymore :P

Smith/chat is wrong, the chance is not 3.5% but closer to 0.04% given that the four games had 7 players. Rolling a 20 two times in a row and then have three attempts to roll another 20 would be a similar percentage using your example

Is the Impostor algorithm listing all players by joined number, as in left to right, and iterate a % of becoming an impostor? As in #1 is % probably, roll. #1 became an impostor, how many left? And it goes until the quota is filled. If so first player on list has more probability of getting impostor then later. If it became something as lazy as rng the list then it still becomes a bad algorithm since the randomness made would become very bad.

'according to chat theres a 3.5% chance of being impostor 4 times' okay chat how many of you failed maths...
@Phagocytosis3 жыл бұрын
It's not that far off, though, if you're counting from the moment you get imposter once*. At that point, it's just three more rounds, at 2/7 each round (technically the last one was 1/7th), which is a little under 2.5% (half that with the last one at 1 imposter), which is somewhat close to the 3.5%. Then again, the rest reacted as though they were given much lower odds (talk about hit by a car, winning the lottery etc.). * The reason I'm not counting the first one is that there's always someone who is the imposter in any given round, so the chance that a 4-in-a-row occurs does not really take that first one into account, as it could start from anyone; only after that do the 2/7th or 1/7th odds come into it. But if it's to be about Hulmes (or anyone) in particular, then of course you do count that and the percentage goes down by a lot more.
@geckini3 жыл бұрын
@@Phagocytosis Ah yeah I get you! It was just that looking at the numbers, I cannot work out how they got 3.5%? The only way I can come to that is by doing (2/7)³ * (1/7) which gives 0.33% and I'm guessing it was rounded up and off by a factor of 10? It definitely wasnt far off depending how you look at it, but the numbers were definitely off!
@Phagocytosis3 жыл бұрын
@@geckini Indeed! Although I think you should actually do (2/7)^2 * (1/7), as I explained above (second paragraph), or (2/7)^3 if you ignore the fact that the last round only had one imposter, which works out to 1.2% or 2.3% respectively, which is closer still to 3.5%. Although it explains how they reached the 3.5% number less well. (How do you get the superscripts in your KZbin comments? I'm having trouble working it out :D)
