Tips for landing: Use full flaps, it slows down the plane and makes it float better at low speed. Press space to sit a bit higher so you can see over the nose when landing. Make sure you are coming in straight and slow, no J turns right before the airport. Keep the nose stable and use the throttle to control your sink rate / decent speed.

4 Pro Landing Tips for the lads and any other flight simmers out there struggling: 1: Approach straight on. If you're on a sever angle at final approach, just go around, you're landing's beyond salvation. 2: Always full flaps when landing, it allows you to have a slower airspeed without stalling, essential for short runways. 3: Use your throttle and airspeed to change your rate of descent instead of pitching the nose. Descending to fast? Increase throttle and airspeed. Descending to slow? Decrease throttle and airspeed. Only make small adjustments. 4: When you're getting close to touchdown, cut throttle and slightly pitch up to decrease descent rate. This is called a "flare" and will make sure your landing is nice and smooth. NEVER pitch the nose down in a desperate attempt to descend. If you feel that sort of urge it probably means you're too high and should go around. Bonus tip: Most bigger airports have approach lights beside the runway. They are four lights placed horizontally and are either coloured white or red. If you have 2 red and 2 white that means you currently have the optimal approach altitude. If you have more red lights than white that means you're too low; increase throttle. If you have more white lights than red you're too high; decrease throttle. Smaller rural airports probably don't have these lights meaning you'll have to eyeball it. EDIT: Remember than when you're getting real close to the runway (maybe 5-10 seconds before touchdown) these lights become less accurate so only use them on final approach. Good luck out there!

I don't know how feasible it is, but I do have a challenge. Get Craig to find you a race course in flight sim and see who can set the fastest lap time in a plane driving along the ground. I don't really know about the limitations of flight sim, but if that's possible it could cool.

Smith getting 500,000, and Trott getting 90 is kinda bizarre. Is the scoring system in this game logarithmic? (Not saying Trott's landing deserved more points, just that it seems like a weird system.)

22:08 The radio altimeter (the voice that starts calling out numbers) tells you how high you are in feet (so when it says 50, you are 50 feet above ground). The landing gears are on the ground at 0, so if you listen to the rate it lists of numbers you can work out your sink rate and guesstimate how long you have before you hit the ground. A typical 3 degree approach path should have a sink rate of 5x your airspeed per minute, a 747 should have an approach speed of 135-140 kts meaning your sink rate should be 675-700 feet per minute (just under 10 feet per second) and at around 20 feet is where the aircraft would "flare" (15 degree pitch up) which should adjust the sink rate to about 5 feet per second. If it lists off the numbers like there is no tomorrow or starts yelling "retard" at you then you're coming in too fast
@FrancisCharetteMigneault4 жыл бұрын
You're talking about 3 degree approach path, not including all other angles, speeds, etc., and you got Ross coming in the landing strip at 45 degree angles trying to drift the plane to safety. You really think they will consider all of this?
@Zaephrax4 жыл бұрын
@@FrancisCharetteMigneault It was more aimed at Alex's comment of being unsure of where the bottom of the plane is in relation to the ground. I am well aware that they are just at it for fun and not trying to be "professional pilots" or anything like that, though if their airliners were being landed "properly" then the majority of the time they would come in at the 3 degree angle; in which case what I said stands. The main takeaway message from my last comment was if they are mindful of the rate the altimeter lists the numbers off then they will be able to land where they are aiming a lot easier. If they want to suplex the plane into the runway after doing the equivelant of a hand-brake turn then go wild, its just a game; but it doesn't stop people being able to say "hey if you do it this way it might work better for you"

PS: a suggestion for trott, you might want to increase just a few of your graphical settings, some gpus run better under load.
