My understanding, is that when a hunt happens electronics will flicker, so if you are ever milling about and see that, you need to SPRINT out of there, which none of them have been doing. Seriously, running is so much faster, and will reliably save your life. Also, Smithy needs to stop using the cross like that. It only works if it's already down when a hunt might happen. If he wants to try and protect himself from a hunt while it's happening, he's better off using a smudge stick. But, yeah, that hunt was very fast. Very little time to react.

you have to place the crucifix down in the general area of the ghost. if the ghost tries to start a hunt while it’s near the crucifix, the hunt will be cancelled. holding/throwing down the crucifix after the hunt has started will do absolutely nothing.

You can actually hold it, you don't HAVE to place it down - but the it only works if the ghost tries to start a hunt within 3m, so its pretty underwhelming

The crucifix is legitimately the most irritating thing in the game as a viewer, and I can only imagine it's even more annoying as a player. 3 meters is nothing on these maps. They should either totally revamp it or just remove it as it's dumb as hell the way it's implemented.

You have to be looking through a night vision camera pointed at the Dots for it to work, and count as evidence.

Apparently that's only if it's a goryo, all other ghost types that need D.O.T.S projector as evidence can potentially be seen passing through in person.

Is this all something that you can read in the manual? I feel like games, too often it's about knowing some thing that the developer should have told you about. Not some meta strategy but literally how their game works. It's like a board game that say at the end, "and now figure out he rest of the rules we had in mind."

@@15roadmaster The patch notes I think you're referring to specifically related to to dead players no longer being able to see ghosts walking through the DOTS. As Backward Rocket Studios said only the Goryo needs to have the DOTS seen through the camera, and that is specifically mentioned in the Goryo journal entry.

I had a list of what to ask a ghost, still got scared. When you can't figure out how an item works, that's just frustration, not scary.

Unless they changed it, it has to be down before it hunts. If it attempts to spawn in the area around the crucifix, it burns one of the charges and averts the hunt. They figured this out months ago but have forgotten since.
