I’m not into F1 but I like listening to Craig talk about it. He knows a lot and he has a great way of explaining it all. You can really tell he’s into it. And the gloves. He has gloves.

These videos are really good. Normally it's just the three lads messing around in their usual manner, but when Craig gets in and actually is guiding them around it's somewhat wholesome to see them actually listening and taking the advice on board! Hope they keep this series up throught the season!

1:14 - Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us: "Take a trained monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car." Thirty years later Sebastian told us: "I had to start my car like a computer. It's very complicated." And Nico Rosbeg said, err, he pressed during the race, I don't remember what race, the wrong button on the wheel. Question for you to both. Is formula 1 driving today too complicated with 20 and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future, concerning technical program, errrm, during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more comunication with your engineers. People last longer in sports that don't destroy body constantly. I mean racing can quite literally destroy your body in an instant but it's mostly a battle of mental stamina and sharpness over high impact sports like soccer/football/basketball/etc that definitely include mental stamina but they're focused more on endless training of your body that degrades/erodes away the joints over time. That's why you see people pro golfing their entire lives instead of retiring mostly anymore in their 20's/early 30's like a lot of other sports. You have to have some strength but it's mostly training the mind and understanding the conditions in play. You used to see older players in all kinds of sports as well but now in a world where one error can get you traded/perma benched any sign of physical decay is grounds for removal in favor of a younger player with that much more stamina. There's a much higher demand that creates a lot more stress on the body today (basic times managed by backup players were considered world class just decades ago due to difference in training regime, diet, etc). The only case this wouldn't happen would be for star players that brings in money.

Serious question here, why aren't there woman in F1? Isn't the criteria small and light?
@mrgingercow4 жыл бұрын
It's a combination of factors. It's a sport that you can only get into if you have the money, time and dedication. Many professional drivers have parents who were also drivers, with the talent and money to put them through. Most girls don't get the opportunity to start karting from a young age, which is needed. There are girls in the sport, in lower divisions. The best I can think of is Tatiana Caulderon. She was an F1 test driver and an F2 driver, although she is one of the slowest on the F2 grid. She isn't bad, but doesn't have the comparative pace to get into F1. No team will sink money hiring a woman to drive for them just because she is a woman. Perhaps there is a need to dismantle the barriers to entry for them. In short, racing cars is seen as a boy's sport and so most women don't get the opportunity to try it. Those who do are far far fewer and therefore less likely to succeed
@alistairwall54704 жыл бұрын
@@mrgingercow Just noting that Calderon left F2, to compete in sportscar racing in the States - something I only found out after I looked at her Wikipedia because I signed her on MyTeam. There are other drivers too, who have potential left in them, most notably Jamie Chadwick who won the inaugural W Series. There's no reason female drivers can't race in F1, but there's certainly a need for active support for female drivers who may not be noticed immediately by F1 teams, and more importantly their young driver programs.
