Still my all time favorite game. One of the earlier games that let you make choices that impacted how the game ended, great story, good soundtrack, just overall an awesome experience. There is a fourth ending, but I think you have to use a cheat to get to it.

Not 1 of them looks terrible. Which is great. The world is not black and white such as these choices. 21 years ago and still more actual than ever.

Exactly. I chose the Helios ending, and after seeing a few clichés through the story, I was really anticipating a "oh no, bad bad denton, u've been greedy, now you die" moment. I really appreciate that they are all more or less what you expect, and the choice is philosophical more than anything else. I would love to see how many people chose which ending on their first play-throughs.

@@Yveldi i always choose Helios because I feel that with the guidance of the AI, my JC, supported by my personal morals and moral choice to spare as many lives as i possibly can, my JC would make a decent God.

@@tremendousyeet3467 Depends. Do you hack the ATMs? Do you gun down the MJ12 troopers because they're in your way? @Tremendous Yeet my JC wouldn't. Ever since you send the signal Alex tells you to send from the old NSF warehouse and Walton Simons tells UNATCO troops to attack you, I pretty much gave up on stealth and started murdering everyone being stealthy was slower and more tedious (having to be sneaky and positioning yourself so you can use Charger Prod or Baton on the spine of the characters to make them unconcious, as they usually didn't get stunned or unconcious the first time and it was really annoying) than just straight up murdering all the bad guys (which becomes especially true once you obtain the Dragon's Tooth, with the Speed augmentation you could just run at every humanoid enemy and slash at them until they're dead

I believe that this was the first game ever to have alternative endings each of them being about something different and real. It did have a lot of different outcomes and branching storytelling as well. Deus Ex was so far ahead of its time in so many ways that we are still playing games today based on the standards it created.
@sharkyjeff7 ай бұрын
daggerfall also had good alternate endings

It seems pretty clear that the Illuminati ending was meant to be the real ending at the time Deus Ex was released, but Invisible War made the Helios ending canon seemingly just 'cause.

@dormcat Жыл бұрын
It would be perfect if Nicolette DuClare walked passed the two (JC and Everett), mirroring Maggie Chow, Walton Simons, and Bob Page in the intro sequence respectively. The Illuminati ending was also tougher to achieve (had to fight/evade MJ12 troops, grays, greasels, and karkians) than other two. @@thespacemanfil Because the Illuminati ending would have the minimal impact on normal people's lives.

Always felt Helios was the real ending because the game is called Deus Ex, like Deus Ex Machina. God in the machine is exactly what you end up creating.

In my opinion, from best to worse endings are: 1-Merge 2-Dark age 3- Illumminati
@WastedGoatFR6 ай бұрын
I expected one to be obviously the right choice and the rest to be rushed and underdeveloped. I picked the Merge ending and I was shocked that the game didn't beat me over the head for doing so. Yes it was suggesting that Tong's ending is better but after seeing all of them I truly believe I've made the right choice, because all of them are somewhat right, no wrong answers.
