Egyptians, specially ancient Egyptians, are not and were not that dark. As an Egyptian myself, it is so jarring to me to see Caucasian features on burnt brown skin. Egypt's character, civilization, history, language & DNA are connected to the Mediterranean & Levent, not Africa. Ancient Egyptians' DNA does not include any Sub-Saharan African DNA. If you know Hatshepsut's temple, you'll see the clear distinction between Egyptians & their African prisoners of war. Egyptians' skin is like that of the Italians, Greeks, & Turks; not black, not African.

Of course they said so themselves in the Book of Thoth, and Every written document associated with Kemet. also, The Greeks substantiated the physical appearance of the Inhabitants of Kemet- The Black Land. Hatshepsut has been the one figure in history I have always been fascinated with. So much so, that I had just recently wanted to ask if she was a future topic for you. A woman King in ancient Egypt, a feat that allowed her to bring wealth and artistry to her country, and yet, only recently are really getting to know her. My very favourite powerful female ruler, Hatshepsut and her architect-some say lover-Senenmut, built Deir El Bahari, the elegant, glorious temple built almost Grecian in its symmetry. She wasn't first woman who became Pharaoh - the first was Sobekeneferu, two hundreds years before. Sobekneferu reigned around 4 years and after she passed she was ONLY ever female Pharaoh before Ptolemaic times whose name was preserved in King Lists, showing that Sobekneferu was respected by next generations of Egyptians and viewed as legitimate ruler.

I think though she would have had to work hard for the respect she got.Its a shame she was almost wiped out,shows how insecure and petty the up and coming new Kings of Egypt were.Hers were not the only features that were nearly all eradicated during the reign of Egypt Kings and the few Queens..I always found Egypt history fascinating ..Great video 🥰

There were many female Pharaohs. Besides Hatshepsut three more before Ptolemaic times (Sobekneferu, Neferneferuaten and Tawosret) and at least 6 during Ptolemaic period (Cleopatra II, Cleopatra III, Berenike III, Cleopatra V/VI Tryphaena, Berenike IV and Cleopatra VII the Great).

@@monmothma3358 There was several thousand of prominent Egyptian Queen consorts 😅😅 But Nefertiti probably became Pharaoh after her husband. Neferneferuaten whom I mentioned almost certainly was Nefertiti, who was also reffered as Neferneferuaten Nefertiti. Having the same name and being most promient female Royal during that time, Nefertiti is best candidate for the role. Her daughter also bore that name, but she was merely a child and wasn't even eldest.

She is my favorite pharaoh, very fair and just, and built Egyptian health and infrastructure. I believe her stepson was a warrior not a diplomat, and they both recognized their best fit for Egypt.

She is my favorite ruler. I know a lot about her. From that trip her travelers brought the oldest tale we know, it was in the illustrated papyrus. The tale about the Great Snake and the mariners who happened to be on his island. Also, i like to think that she had lover (favorite) and it was young and very talented architect (who built all these temples). There are a portrait of them with her daughter. Some scientists think that her only child was not from husband (brother's genes), but from her lover.

Her tomb contains her bodily remains. Her memorial temple contains her spirit, which is depicted on the walls and monuments, of who she was in life.

Actually, for most if not all 18th Dynasty Pharaohs, how they are depicted in contemporary art highly correlates with their physical features. Most art of Akhenaton is the exception. Hatshepsut and TIII are in a league of their own. They demanded it.

I think we can safely surmise that Hatshepsut was a very strong willed woman. I believe she was also very highly educated perhaps much like Nefertari who had been trained as a scribe. I believe that her reign likely was the best time for Egyptians to live as she emphasized improving the economy and hence the lives of average Egyptians. Especially her re-opening trade routes to bring plants and animals including frankincense and myrrh. I find it especially interesting that the trunks of some of the frankincense trees she had planted at her temple are still there. She was Very beautiful too, as your reconstruction shows!!

I believe that it is more likely that Amenhotep II who defaced Hatshepsut’s monuments & statues as he is believed to have been one of the Exodus pharaohs. Thutmose III was the one Moses (Senenmut) ran from. Amenhotep II was the pharaoh Moses faced who wouldn’t “let the Hebrews go.” Amenhotep II would have had the most to gain from erasing Hatshepsut and Senenmut from the historical records. Hatshepsut elevated Senenmut to the highest level a commoner could go even naming him a Crown Prince which fits the rivalry between him and Amenhotep II as the next pharaoh.
