Extra tie-down locations and parts to help haul 4x8 plywood sheets as well as boards. On the dimensions, I accidentally misplaced the decimal on a few of them. So if it's 10x too large or small, convert between mm and cm.

OK. You're a Genius! That tail gate 2pc extender, the base, magnetsm, thge tenon! WELL DONE!

Thanks! The tailgate support piece tenon recently sheared apart when I tried to haul too much drywall lol

That tailgate support is smart. Nice!

That is a pretty slick idea. This was my main concern with upgrading or downgrading from 8th generation one Toyota Tundra to a generation 2 Toyota Tacoma. Thank you for the information.

What a novel idea. . . . . . but for the tailgate support, I built a bench (two foot x 10 inches x 9 1/2 Inches high). I intend to use tie-down straps to secure the sheets. Now, I have a safe method of transporting 4'x8' sheets. Happy to have "run across" this posting.

Yep, good design. Simple and quick. Other methods clearly overthink it . . .

I have the exact setup. The downside is getting it to the truck and then load them onto the 2x s running across between the notches. If you buy materials, you should know what I am talking about. When I drive the full size truck, I have no problem with that as I simply slide them from the cart. Really considering on a full size, but tundras will eat your wallet overtime with the gas. Also, I never liked using the tailgate for any form of load as I don’t thing they are meant for that. However, if you are only driving a certain amount of sheets, I don’t think that peg you are using will hurt the tailgate as you are only using it for stability.

Man did you patent that tailgate thing? Someone's gonna steal that idea lol!

I like your idea. I just purchased a 2023 Tacoma with the 6 foot bed. I can't say for sure but it looks like you also have a 6 foot bed? More to the point, what length of rachet straps do you use and how do you have it attached to the tie down cleat at the top? Looks like you have an extra hook.
@TrotterG Жыл бұрын
You're right, this is a 6-ft bed. I don't know how long my ratchet straps are. Most would be plenty long enough for tying things down in a truck bed. As far as I know they all come with open hooks on both ends. Mine in this video is attached to that top cleat just by hooking it on.

Should have bought a Honda Ridgeline, you wouldn't have to do that plywood fits in the back of them

Very smart ide anyone know how much space you get from bed deck to bottom of 2x6…. In thinking of leaving a deck and putting a couple of boxes underneath for tools and storage

Is that a 2x4? A 2x4 is higher than the notch on my Tacoma
@TrotterGАй бұрын
It is a 2x4, and it sticks up past the notch. That's why I cut rabbets into the ends.

In practice how many sheets of 3/4 plywood have you been able to haul with this setup? I am doing a similar setup and I have reservations about putting a heavy load on those unbraced 2x4s. Would love to know what this has survived in your case.
@TrotterG3 жыл бұрын
I think up to five or six. Only so many will fit under my toolbox.

What did you use to stain the ‘spanners’ wood?
@TrotterG2 жыл бұрын
Ebony stain. It has held up pretty well to this day, although better exterior finishes certainly could be used as well.

So that's where I messed up. My tool box goes too far down. It blocks the plywood from going all the way to the back. 200 bucks gone.
