Duffy , I had belt trouble myself some years ago , they would twist and roll over and run off the pully, I even had a belt run off and rap it's self around the Around the harmonic balancer and take out the crank seal. , I changed out the water pump twice and the Alternator 3 times, and it would keep doing it , Finally, this old retired truck driver told me what the problem was , after he looked at my truck , he told me I was running the belts Too tight , I'm running them with a 1/4 inch of slack now and I got 5 years out of one set of belts now and I haven't had any trouble with it since , now I'm not saying this is what your problem is , and I'm not telling you what to do , but I'm just throwing this out there .

Just an idea when in the shop before draining the cooling system remove the belts start the Mack and give the harmonic balance balancer a look to check if it’s running true also the belt tension comment has worthy advise.

We had a scania V8 in a generator that was chewing up belts by the dozen, there didn't seem to be anything out of line but we eventually discovered that there was a difference between the depth in the center flange of the alternator pulley which in effect caused the middle belt to be taking up more of the drive than the other two causing it wear quickly and snap, it usual took out the other two when it broke.

Continuous improvement, Your place is always improving. Put a bolt and nut through the center of your pulley and spin it in a drill to see if it's straight. That will be $1 for the guidance 🤣
@ghostunspeakable78662 ай бұрын
The belts are probablly the harmonic balancer but it could also be bearings...or both Edit...definitely a wobbly pulley too
@davidwolff88782 ай бұрын
Chris i had the same problem with the belts a few years back . I tried match , OEM green ...... they kept spinning off. no one could find a problem, multiple garages thinking new eyes on the problem. over $,2,000 just in belts not garage time, i tried one more time spent the hole day shimming ,checking for square , or damaged pullies or shafts, tensioners. looked great . started it great . dove 500 ft wrapped around the alt and air compressor brought it back . slapped a $ 1,000 for sale sign on it. IT was a INT 2500 s glad that truck is gone. One thing i regret, was not trying converting to serpentine

You can also get belts that are not cut so all three are run together, but yeah, if you have an alignment or bent shaft issue those would need to be addressed first. 100 tons must be at least 80 yards.
@keithfrazier25582 ай бұрын
I wonder if switching to multiple electric fans to remove that aspect from the front of the pulley would help some. I know it would increase your HP not having the fan dragging on the engine.

You can always take off the old pulley take it to a machine shop and have them build you a new one
@kaydog20082 ай бұрын
Belt alignment breakage is always these two fan or power steering pulleys on any vehicle. FACT💯❕❕❕❕❕❕❕❕Tip never tighten V belts only snugg enough that you can’t make the belts slide around the pullies with both hands to keep from overheating and bending the pump shaft. Plus belt slip spray helps a whole lot.
@CraigMeier-m9p2 ай бұрын
Your truck could be bent water pump shaft and you should get actually match set belts. Your coupler on the tractor is very common the rubber gets hard and cracked and it blows apart

@andyzumwalt36322 ай бұрын
Those cuplers can go when the pump fails. I hope that's not the case on the tractor.
@robertquast96842 ай бұрын
Not sure what style your coupling is but if it’s the 3 piece aluminum and rubber one 1 would get the complete coupler not just the rubber. Usually the aluminum halves wear as well

After you get your millions spread before it rains. Spread some Kelsey among it doesn't matter if it's chips or pellets. When it rains, it will do a chemical reaction. Heat up and bond it back together. So it will be a good sub base if you ever want to pay it. That's what we do without reclaim. We make out a hot top where I work and it will make it so hard. You can't scrape it up with a greater without ripping it first.
@davidyoung91952 ай бұрын
That was my first thought when you said 15 hrs has to be a bad pulley. Good luck getting it straightened out. Those killings work great once they get packed in. A 90 degree day works best for spreading them; then they set up like asphalt. I agree with you about the auto slack adjusters.
