We used to have a cool furnace in our basement, my husband worked in a coal mines so we got our coal free and we cut our own wood, only put coal and wood in the morning and then before bed time. Best heat to have. Heat pump is what I been using 8 years and they ain’t worth a plugged nickel keeping me warm in the winter, but I ain’t homeless so I ain’t complaining. Thanks for sharing the video and y’all all be safe. We Are So Blessed 🙏🙏🇺🇸. 👍👍.

You are lucky to have this option for getting rid of slabs fairly close. They can sure pile up in a hurry. Our local sawmill told me they advertised their slabs for free one winter for firewood and didnt have a single call. The next year they advertised them for $30 a bundle and sold them all!😂🤣

I use a wood stove in the basement, so before I throw my firewood down there, I spray with a mild pesticide. I use it outdoors only and keep it outside till I got 3 or 4 wagonloads, then chute it through the window. My chute is a 15” plastic drain pipe, 15” diameter, 5’ long. works perfectly. This was an interesting video. The Vietnamese were big on making charcoal back in the day.

I reckon pal Jason cuts those slabs into firewood lengths and hauls them on a tandem Ford dump. We used to burn them yers ago. We've got an inside flue so no pine. Interestring about the charcoal plant. I used tohaul line from Jefferson City and bag lime from Luttrel then concrete from around Copper Hill and rock from on through Ocoee. Paid thelight bill Pretty country. God Bless Yall.

There is a charcoal plant here in S.E. Missouri I used to drive by it before I retired, there was slabs piled up as far as you could see. When they would load trucks up with the charcoal, the fine coal dust went everywhere.
